Best benzo for extended relief (long acting/generalized anxiety)

Hello all, I am on xanax xr 2mg in the morning and it really doesn't last all day. I am thinking of asking my doc to change it to 1mg morning and 1mg around 4pm.
How does this sound to you guys? I really do like the xanax but it does seem a hard med to get to work for an overall generalized anxiety..or I may be trippin idk.
But I was on klonopin twice a day and it semeed to last pretty much always. Problem is it was very dysphoric and made me depressed and kindna detatched. What do you guys think about valium vs xanax xr vs klonopin? Or ativan xr (if they even make that) thanks guys(:
 
When I was prescribed Xanax XR, I was prescribed it BID. 2mg in the morning, 2mg 8 hours later.

If it works for you, clonazepam is a good choice as well as Valium. I don't think there are any other extended release benzodiazepines other than alprazolam.
 
I prefer klonapin. It works wonders on my anxiety, and in tiny doses. I'm just lucky, I guess. Hope you find something that works for ya.

You will only need more and more until you are stuck in a deadly loop.

Find some other way to cope besides chasing relief through medicine.

I have GAD. It sucks ass, I know, But I got into serious trouble behind benzos.

If you use drugs, it will be way to easy to take shit too far just to “feel” your relief.

All benzos have the potential to cause depression. I personally would go for diazepam, its the easiest to taper off of, works on all subtypes well, and probably has potential than ativan/klonopin to cause adverse side effects.
 
There is no best benzo. It all depends on your body. For instance Valium doesn't seem to do it for me for some reason all though in low doses it slightly helps. Your doctor should have you try them all but most doctors will go with whatever works first. Don't get hung up on what your taking. Any benzo is effective if used responsibly and only when necessary.
 
I have 2mg klonopins. I take an 8th (.25mg) and it works fine. My anxiety isn't even that bad i just built up a habit of them, and am keeping it as low as possible unless it is days where i feel like getting buzzed.

I have to aggree, your right. I find this to be true with drugs in general too tho. But yea, I am RXed out. Xanax 2mg t.I.d, dexedrine 70mg a day, lyrica 225mg t.I.d (doc wants me bck on 1200mg gabapentin t.I.d) used to be worse though. But nevertheless I remember when I was on theklonopin I didn't get that feeling of "I need more I need more, or wondering if its working" that I get with xanax. Valium seems like an option. How muhc diazepam would yu believe=how much xanax= how much klonopin-or is there a benzo conversation chart?

also starting to smoke pot again which may complicate things.

Your doc is a total fraud scum haha sorry to put it like that. I just wonder how some of these guys are really docs.

They write you high dose scripts for all this stuff just to keep you happy and away from them. Then they add more and more as if it is actually helping the problem, instead of getting you high. Why the hell would you need 1200mg gabapentin when you are already on 2mg xanax. The xanax should be enough....
 
I was prescribed 300mg of lyrica/day while I was on 4mg of xanax xr/day. (I have neuropathic pain though; shit don't get me high)

BID is twice per day.

Like another has said 120 mg of diazepam... IMHO no doctor who has sense will have you jamming that many valiums a day...

Have faith in yourself and be careful please.
 
They would probably try you on 40mg of diazepam/day (since most doctors use the conversion of 1mg alprazolam/clonazepam = 10mg diazepam. That and they always reduce the dose upon initiation by at least 25% for incomplete cross-tolerance.
 
You really don't need another benzo on board, man. Maybe swap out one or more of your shit for some diazepam, but don't go adding more gabaergics. Cmon now.
 
like i read, quickly skimming thru... someone was right when they said each benzo effects each brain differently. i would geuss your gonna lean away from xanax tho considering its the shortest acting of the popular benzos.

i personally get the most benefit from ativan in general, xanax works too but its just different. more of a boom, then a crash. ativan seems to be a more constant.

klonopin is very very long lasting for me. i tend to over-use klonopin because of that. i also feel most dr's do the same with it.

I like valium, but mostly only for recreation. its longer acting like klonopin, but more variant imo. IV valium is incredibly different for some reason.

if u really feel/know u need a benzo i personally recommend ativan. i feel its easier to handle than the other 3, and for me its the most generally effective.

I'm trying to get off some of them. I know im on too many. my doctors giving me lyrica and gabapentin and i stopped the gabapentin, ima tell him i want to go back to how it was. i tried to go cold turkey off dexedrine and xanax for 3 days and those days were msierable. i was just sleeping in my rooom, i couldnt do anything, today I "relapsed" and took a xanax 2mg, and 2 and a half 10mg dexedrine. I think i should try to get off phenibut-i know im on too many gaba related drugs
