Today i have a 3 hour train journey ahead of me making vary stops and train changes, from leafy suburbs right through the countries capital.

Now i have a choice of Diazepam, Temazepam, Flurazepam (yet to try this one) Bromazepam and Lormetazepam. )

Which if any would make the journey most enjoying with being able to deal with people and cetain sistuation yet would lot leave me snorring my head off and possibly missing trains and coming into dangerous unwanted situation.

The only times i have used Benzos in the past as a travel aid was to knock me out on a flight.

Thanks for any replies.

Lormetazepam is my favourite that you have listed there. Though it is quite strong compared to the others, it's hypnotic effect might knock you for six if you have no tolerance.

Bromazepam or diazepam would be the best for what you have said you want it for. Personally i prefer bromazepam over diazepam, it all depends on the dose however.

Gosh, I wish I had a choice of things to take when I need, it's like pulling out the sock drawer and picking a pair to where for the day lol.

While I can't really tell you which one exactly to take because all meds act different for different people and for those with different tolerances along with any other preexisting conditions for which these may be prescribed, but maybe this may help. All benzos for the most part act on the same part of the brain so from the brains perspective there is little difference, mostly the differences in the benzo's have to do with how quickly they are absorbed into the body and how quickly they armetabolized out of the body and there by no longer effective..

Diazepam - Basic run of the mill Valium, great for what your suggesting here and all around very versatile drug. At doses around 10mg's it has a nice relaxing feel, but usually won't knock you out unless your sensitive to it. It's generally used for anxiety, as well as a muscle relaxer. I have used it for both and found that it lasted a good number of hours. Very relaxing with out feeling tired and relaxed all my muscles witch if you are talking about taking a 3 day train ride and you just want to be nicely relaxed with all your faculties with out falling asleep constantly, I think this would be a great option. Oldy but goodie!

Temazepam - More prescribed for insomnia, but as I have found out it doesn't hit you quickly which means you certainly can get around just fine for a few hours on it, but I find that once you settle yourself and you fall asleep, you will stay asleep, sleeping like a baby, also, for me anyway it tends to have some side effects for me of amnesia like symptoms. Meaning that while I was awake and running about, once I feel asleep, it was as if I has been sleeping from the time I took it, until the time I woke up. I probably wouldn't recommend this for what you are needing it for.

Flurazepam - Mostly prescribed for long-term anxiety / muscle relaxation. I have never tried this, however it stays in your system for a very long time, up to 4 days, which is why it's not recommended for sleep, and more for a long lasting relaxation. The problem with this I would foresee is that you would become easily tolerant to it you would probably never find a time where you would have come down from it before you took your next pill so the relaxation / sedation would become the norm more or less if you understand what I mean. Again doesn't sound what you would want / need.

Bromazepam - Anti-anxiety at low doses and more sedative / muscle relaxation at higher doses. Probably not predictable as yo how you will react to it and how much you would need for a happy medium. I have never taken this one either, but Sounds to me like its dose equates what you are looking to get out of it. ie low dose, calm cool collected, higher dose, probably more of a relaxant, and even higher doses, it would put you to sleep. It's a shorter acting med and wont stay in your system to long.

Lormetazepam - Not available in the US from what I can tell which is probably why I have never heard of it, but it seems like it to is used more for treatment of insomnia which means it would hang in your system and have more longer term effects. I really can't say too much about this one I just really dont know.

So class what did we learn today?? I have no f'ing clue lol, just kidding no, seriously, again, I can only speak from my experiences and what I have been on and based on what I know about the different meds, I think plain old valium (diazapam) would be your best bet. It's actions and effects are pretty damn predictable, it's well known and used. You get what you get with this one. Meaning if you want a buzz you can get your buzz, you want to fall asleep, take more fall asleep, just need something so you don't kill the annoying person next to you, take less. All in all probably the best one in list for your trip. Others may think differently, and thats ok, Im in no competition to win the correct answer here. I just think its the best for your trip as the drug is very predictable, and the others not so much. The ones mostly used for insomnia will probably leave you tired and in a bit of a slumber and your trip may not be as enjoyable.

Either way no matter what you pick, use it, be safe, follow the instruction (as best you can ;) ) and have a great time on your trip!! Just let me know if you found this helpful, since I am not a pro at med for recreation or fun or anything like that, but I have a good understanding of a lot of meds and their effects. I'm just looking to know if you found this usefull as this is the type of responses others can expect from me regarding questions, and I want to make sure if Im taking my time to write them, they are worth my time writing :) Again, enjoy your trip! and dang it, I want a sock drawer like yours! lol :)

Take 5-10mg of Valium, or don't take anything at all. Benzos aren't things to be trifled with, and you seem to have lots of strong sedative ones.

Just hope you get a window seat I guess?

I take Diaz everyday, a soon to be addressed isssue, and was up and down to London on the train and tube last week so did take a little as a tend to get a bit of claustrophobia. Dose is all a bit dependant on tolerance but I keep the doses low as you dont want to be in a dribbling mess on the train and you need you wits about you to navigate the tube ! and do whatever toyu need to do at the opther end.
5Mgs would be waste of time for me at the mo, I find and audio book and a nice warm coat much more effective

just hope you don't miss your stop - it's nearly happened to me.

we're not here to give advice on what benzo to take on your train trip.
