Best Band of All Time

Im sorry but just because something is popular or that it has influence a lot of the music out there doesnt it make it the best band. In my opinion it is either Dream Theater, Opeth, or Rush.

Dream Theater are gods. Jammin' to 6° of Inner Turbelence in my car (Disc 2).

i will side with silverfucked and say smashing pumpkins

siamese dreams has to be the most complete album i've ever heard...everything from acoustic, to sweet melodies, to heavy electric guitar (well heavy enough, anyway)

they would have been even greater if stupid billy corgan weren't such a control freak in the later albums' direction and would have collaborated more with james iha

hummer, mayonnaise, and luna - three of the greatest songs i've ever heard

pink floyd.. i dont even listen to the shit anymore.. you cant deny that they're fucking AMAZING tho.. so much thought and creativity went into the albums... totally not cookie-cutter bullshit.

The clean guitar endtro riff on Hummer is simply amazing.

"Life's a bummer when you're a hummer!"

once upon a time i woulda said Nevermore but their last 2 albums are hurting.

id say dimmu borgir but their style is too limited.

so im going to have to go with S~L~A~Y~E~R

#1 for staying hardcore after more than 25 years of being a band. you do not realize how fuckign fast those guys can play even after all this time.

#2 for releasing some of the best selling, most influential, and unique albums in the history of modern music

#3 for everythign else they did for the scene in general

#4 f0r making some of the most diverse styles of metal, yet at the same time having an extremely difinitive sound - from punk influenced, to thrash influenced, to throwing in some new school styles. slayer fucking outright rocks.

#5 for giving thousands of rebellious, agressive, torn and distraught teenagers (and older, naturally) music to identify with - music that lets us shake off the horrors of the modern world and pound out our agressions to some of the most beautiful sounds of all time. a true slayer fan is spiritually bound to the freedom that is only found within the intricate composition of THE SLAYTANIC WERMACHT!

:XTHE SPORT IS WAR!:X

Best BAND - as in a bunch of guys making music with limited studio intervention as well as good interplay between a group of intensely talented people would have to go to The Who, The Clash or the Stones.

But in the past decade, I'd say Radiohead.

HAHAHAHA who said the clash and the sex pistols? anyway deft. the velvet underground are a close second runners up followed by the stooges, television, beach boys and i could go on and on, however even the velvs can't surpass the beatles in my opinion
