best (and worst) book-adaptation films

toa$t said:
I just read that George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series is getting turned into an HBO show. each book is going to be a season. Should be awesome!

I always hoped they would do that for The Wheel of Time. And now that Robert Jordan is dead, I hope his wife sells the rights to the highest bidder.

The greatest movie adapted from a book is The Godfather. Best book ever written. Best movie ever made. More impressive than winning the Triple Crown.

While wheel of time would certainly be wicked, have you read Song of Ice and Fire? I thought wheel of time was good (well, the first 7 books. never made it through 8 ) until I read Martin. There is absolutely no comparison.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned:
Silence of the Lambs-Great adaption. Anthony Hopkins and Jodi Foster were perfect for the movie.
Lord of the Rings-Could it have been any better? Nah.
Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy-I found the book to be a little boring, but loved the movie.

And two of the worst I can think of at the moment:
Interview With A Vampire-Fuck Tom Cruise!
Queen of the Damned-The book was far from a masterpiece, but the movie was nothing more than a campy shit movie to be played as background noise at an all gay orgy.

Thinner ws okay.

Dreamcatcher sucked.

the Stand ruled.
the shining ruled.

Yes, Interview with Vampire DID have Pitt, which is always enjoyable to watch.
