Benzos

Yes, I take benzos for anxiety, along with fluvoxamine, beta blockers and a daily meditation practice.

But this is something you should discuss with a psychiatrist.
 
Yes, I, myself, and several of my family members/friends (nuclear family/close friends) feel they need benzo's for anxiety and/or insomnias.
 
i take benzos for anxiety regularly and they do great for it. if you gonna drink on benzos, just take less benzos and don't drink too much... unless you wanna black out real quick.

and stay at home when you drink.

Occasionally I would very much like to have one, but I no longer have such regular or intense anxiety or panic issues... I am also now much better at 'psyching myself out' of the situation.

I used to need them on a daily basis for the better part of 2-3 years though.

Their advantage is in very effective short-term symptomatic relief. This is all they're good for - they are not like a cast over a fractured arm, which has healed itself by the time the cast is removed. They are more like an improvised splint to hold you out until you get to the hospital to get you properly sorted out.

Benzos allowed me to keep going to school and go to therapy, and it was through this that my issues were solved. Benzos do not cure anxiety; rather, they postpone it.
 
I have a severe anxiety disorder and benzos are the only medication I've found that helps.I'm prescribed Xanax and opiate pain killers.I also drink with this combination most days and personally don't have any problems such as blacking out or resperitory depression etc...I'm not saying it's safe for everyone,just that it can be done without killing yourself.Depends a lot on your tolerance/experience I guess.Just make sure you know your limits.
