Benzo's VS Opioids

Hey,
Im a benzo addict. but also had an addiction to opiates. i used opiates pretty heavily for 6 months, and using benzoa for 2 years ( 1 year heavy)
Im on a prescribtion of 35mg diazepam a day. but wait 3 days then take them, i find that covers my withdrawls better.

I found it far more easier to come off opiates than benzo's. I normaly use 300-450mg diazepam a day when im on a bender. this now has no effect on me what so ever. i feel nothing from them. why is this? no matter how high a dose I take i get nothing.

and has anyone else had the same problem as me. opiates are easier to stop than benzo's in my eyes.
 
Yeah I'm somewhat in the same boat in terms of Benzo's, I'm not dependent on opiates however. Benzo's are extremely addicting, but it also depends upon what type of opiates you were using and how your ingesting them.
 
Well it's good you have your opiate use under control. If I were you I'd stop taking benzo's for a while and try to wean yourself out. Withdrawal from that high of a dosage could be very bad, or even result in death.
 
For sure, I agree. A heroin addict can feed there addiction for life, as long as they don't overdose they will keep on living. Now with a hardcore benzo addict eventually you're going to run out of your supplier and once your tolerance get's to a insanely high level and you've been taking it every day for years. That day your supplier is gone, almost 100% you're either going into the hospital or into a coffin.
 
i'm benzo/etizolam dependent anyway and there is no dose on Earth that will get me high. After a few years, this will happen to everyone. My tolerance isn't even that insane. I just won't blackout from any dose (except maybe something like 40mg of phenazepam), or even get high, i can triple my dose, nothing, still relieves anxiety though so whatever.

at least with opiates you can still get high from a high enough dose. Still both drugs are shit for getting high once you've been addicted to them. Stims are much better for euphoria IMO and tolerance isn't nearly as big of an issue. At least when i quit stims i don't have seizures, shit and puke all day and die of physical pain for weeks, with the possibility of death.
 
Had to stop both at the same time and wow! Yeah benzos stopped working for me, i think this is an individual experience and ymmv, but users beware!
 
Yeah I'm glad I don't have a good connect on benzo's anymore......its too easy to just eat more and more and "one more." Thats how I get when I have any amount of good benzo around.

I'm kicking opiates (almost to 30 days!!) and will take benzo's when I can......they help a lot with anxiety. I don't think I've ever been quite addicted to benzos compared to how bad I got with opiates....maybe I'm lucky? I have read that when you have addiction to both opiates and benzos thats one of the worst to kick, then again people swear methadone is the worst to kick.

Who knows I'm just glad to sun is out today and I'm alive.
 
I'm the exact opposite. I can stop taking Benzodiazepines CT for up to a week (that was my longest go) before caving in. For some reason though, I cannot go a day without Opiates. I hate the withdrawal from both, but I can tough through the benzo withdrawals if I absolutely need to. With Opiates, I freak out and do everything in my power to avoid withdrawal.
 
Yea i found benzos harder to come off of than opiates. Just a question, i don't need a taper schedule or plan or anything. Was wondering if i could taper my self off of klonopin , with super low doses of klonopin? Reason being i can't find valium.

The best thing I did for myself was to kick my benzo addiction for good and never relapse (It's been more than 10 years now). I needed a fuckload of xanax everyday to feel just okay, and even hundreds of mg of diazepam wouldn't black me out (it would still fuck me up tho)

Imho, you should seek out a doc, determine a stabilizing dose and then slowly taper with valium (months, even years if necessary!). It'll take a couple more years afterwards to completely regain your optimal pre-benzo neurotransmitter functions, sleep well without fucking pills, forget about panic attacks, take speed without getting uncomfortably wired up, etc. I wish you luck and determination...

I understand what you mean, I experienced a similar thing when I was hooked hard.. But I'm pretty sure a high-enough dose of alprazolam or bromazepam would still make you black out and/or completely lose judgement ;)

And I agree that tolerance to opiates is alot more easily and faster reversed than a fucking benzo habit, even if it can't ever be the same as the first few glorious times with any substance... I repeat cos I know from first-hand experience: it takes years to repair the damages of benzo abuse (and even long-term ''therapeutic'' use, I'm pretty sure, is greatly detrimental)
 
Opiates are definitely easier to come off. There's Kratom for opiate addicts, which can be a life saver and is one of the best maintenance drugs out there while being totally legal (in most places).

As far as I know there's no equivalent for Benzos. I've heard Valerian root works with GABA but I'm not sure it could lessen W/D or prevent life threatening situations from occurring.


I myself have never had a Benzo addiction but I did have a friend who did and what I witnessed happening to him was far worse than any opiate addict I've seen.

Yes klonopin is fine for this purpose. When lowering a dose I cut pills into pieces and increase the frequency. Eg. If I take a .5 in the morning and at night I would cut the pills in half and take .25 three times a day to drop myself down.

As a long time drug abuser who's done wayyy more than his fair share of just about everything....I get this^

I got to a point with IV heroin where it seemed like no matter how much I did it reached a point where the high just fizzled and I could tolerate damn near any dose! Benzos, I never reached even near that point, but I have 2-3 friends who could handle a whole script of any benzo you threw at them and still be functional and not blacked out...

I reached this point with methamphetamine too....I could do however much was in front of me and not feel it past a certain point....

this is what happens at the end of the road with most drugs IMO...you just cease to be able to achieve any "high" from them...regardless of dosage! It's not cool at all, it's indicative of a major problem! If you can't "feel" benzos or opiates anymore it's time to check in to fucking rehab!

but the idea that you're "immune" to any drug is an illusion, and a dangerous idea to entertain!

yea i was planning on just taking .25mg a day until i am completely off. Still gonna be a bitch though.
 
Withdrawal aside. Theres no competition when it comes to the high. Opiate addiction is alot more functional and comfortable as long as you've got the drugs to keep it going, imo.
 
Benzos and Opiates are both my Kryptonite. It all started with the Opiates, which were hell to WD from. Especially those semi-synthetic ones like Oxycodone or Methadone. OCs gave me the worst bone pains I have ever experienced. It was like some one took a baseball bat to my bones, while detoxing from Methadone was more of a muscle thing. I was tweakin and cramping nonstop. Worst of all though, is the psychological addiction.

Then I discovered benzos as a way to potentiate opiates AND help with the WDs, which soon manifested into it's own addiction. I've heard benzo WD is worse than opiate WD, I know benzo WD is fatal, but I've never been as addicted to benzos as I have to opiates.

Benzos scare the hell out of me. I have extreme anxiety, and I find the relief benzos provide to be euphoric, so I am constantly seeking them out, but I can binge for a month, at extremely high doses and experience little to no WD, primarily just rebound anxiety and insomnia. If I were to spend a month on Heroin there would no doubt be extreme hell to pay.

I suppose it depends on the person, but both substances are indisputably the 2 most addictive drugs known to man. (People may say alcohol and nicotine, but if that's their opinion they likely haven't experienced true opiate or benzo dependency).
