(benzos) Need Help With a Recovery/Tapering Plan

Hello all.

I was approached by someone very dear to me who needed help recovering from severe benzo addiction. We have both tried several different methods, and I have done quite a bit of research already involving the nature of the substance as well as the addiction itself. With this being said, we have come to the stark realization that it is of greater magnitude than originally conceived once there were more close calls than I'd like to admit (not having enough on hand, sometimes to the point where I would be afraid for his life or where we would even consider ER visits). Through my research, I have drafted out several ideas on a taper plan as well as a general recovery plan based off of many credible medical resources found on my own or provided by this community. With that being said, I am humble and aware enough to realize that this issue needs more attention and delicacy than just the conjecture of someone who wants to help, no matter how well they mean.

If possible, I would like for all of your help in devising something stable for him. We have gotten him from over 10 mgs+ a day down to around 4 or 5. From here, I know it is a bit trickier and I do not want to gamble with someone else's well being. My original plan was to go down 1 mg a month until 2 mgs, then go down 0.5 mgs a month after that. I also want to assemble a sort of "care package" to alleviate withdrawal symptoms when he is having bad days and needs a little pick me up. So far this includes: Phenibut, Valerian Root, Beta Alanine, and Blue Label (in case everything else runs out and we're desperate, at least he's taking alcohol to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms in style).

I would like to be further educated on how best to use these substances in conjunction with the taper plan on helping him come off of it as comfortably and as safely as possible. He has also been taking a lot of Adderall for a very long time, and since stopping (more or less) cold turkey he has no energy to do anything. Around how long will it take for him to detox off of this, and how could I best aid him in having more energy/waking up?

PS: He tends to have insomnia, and dosing a little heavier at night tends to help quite a bit. If possible, please help me draft something around that?

Hello all, we are using etizolam at the moment. I appreciate all the responses and help so far!

valerian actually has minor affinity for gaba receptors, I think gaba1 or 1a, cant find it right now but its out there. thats been my plan for when i finally stop benzos, to use liberal doses of valerian to soothe those aching receptors(and hopefully avoid seizures). i know fuck all about etizolam tho, its not one of those funky nonbenzos is it? if so valerian might not help, then again could still be worth a try since its mildly sedating on its own. good luck either way
