Hello, I have in my possession quite a few mylan brand clonazapam. I've been using it a little, but find that it has no real fun effects. What exactly should I be feeling while on these little guys? Do you have any suggestions for potentiators?

Also I am currently taking Zoloft trileptal and abilify for my depression and anxiety.

Benzos just are not fun for me, why?

Hello, I have messed around with several benzos, mostly Mylan brand clonazapam. But I really just don't understand what I am supposed to feel while on them, honestly I feel nothing positive, mostly negative effects like sleepiness and just being plain zoned out. I think it may be due to the meds I take for depression and anxiety (Zoloft trileptal and abilify) if anyone could give me an idea of what I need to do in order to feel good on benzos.

All of the above applies also to most pain killers like oxy codone and hydro codone.

it doesn't usually give any euphoria. however many people, including myself, still fall for these chemicals because of the immense and immediate relief from anxiety and related issues.

it's possible to achieve somewhat of a euphoria, a euphoria similar to alcohol's but maybe less pleasurable and less disorienting, given the right context (just like any drug, environment and state of mind matter a great deal). it's probably better to go with benzos than alcohol if you want a sedating buzz, though both are highly dangerous down the road.

your muscles should get relaxed. you might feel sleepy. basically, sedated. racing thoughts should subside. if you have anxiety combined with past psychedelic use (like LSD or shrooms) your vision might clear up. if you take quite a few of them, your vision could get blurry and you could get dizzy. please type clonazepam into wikipedia.
Do you have any suggestions for potentiators?
i don't recommend potentiating from the start of using clonazepam. that said, grapefruit juice (white, from concentrate, is best, afaik) can make the peak effects stronger and the duration of the effects longer. tagamet/cimetidine, over the counter acid-reducer, does the same but is more potent. i should note that, in hindsight :p, it's not wise to tweak the liver enzymes over the long term, so be careful.

my first times with benzos were when i was prescribed them during my first year at college. i couldn't believe that i could feel comfortable like that within a crowd. 5 years later, paradoxical effects (e.g. benzo caused anxiety, ironically) are messing with me though. and tapering fast is not something to take lightly...

We all react differently to any medication..so it may be that what you are expecting isn't being delivered.
It's not supposed to be fun really, it's supposed to help people with anxiety issues go on about their days,
as if they didn't have those issues.
ime...i never did feel much effect at all on clonazapam...which of course, being the age i was then, must've been the
dr's fault for rx'ing me the wrong dosage...again.
i never once felt sedated...but i continued to redose and redose and redose and then, you know, redose again..and next thing i knew...
i'd gotten myself into some sort of trouble.
what you should be feeling is relaxation, ease of breath-taking, and a general sense of that feeling that tells you things will probably be alright.
don't potentiate...tell your dr. it's not working...you may need to switch or re-examine your dose together.

I feel the same way you do, and I'm not on any SSRIs. I don't see how these could be recreational unless you find sleep and boredom recreational.

I don't know what's ruining your opiates. Oxycodone gives me the best euphoria I've ever had. (I've never IV'd anything.)

Hi, I am prescribed 0.5mg clonazepam as needed up to 4x a day for racing thoughts and anxiety. I don't use often so don't have much tolerance, though I do have an almost daily stimulant habit which may or may not affect the dose I require for certain effects. This in mind everyone has different tolerance levels to different drugs IMO.

At my prescribed dose I find the clonazepam calms my mind and chills me out - no euphoria.

At 2mg clonazepam sedates and relaxes me a lot and the only way I can describe it is it also blanks my mind, I think of nothing, in a good way (to me). At this dose I drift off to sleep in 1 - 2 hours - no euphoria.

At 3mg clonazepam knocks me out for a good 12+ hours and I don't even remember drifting off - no euphoria (at least none I remember).

IMO clonazepam is not a benzo that creates euphoric effects. I do find it good for reducing anxiety, relaxation, getting rid of racing thoughts, sedation and sleeping at different doses. Different people will most likely have different reactions and people with lower or higher tolerance than myself will gain similar effects from lower/higher dosage. Best bet is to take as directed by your doctor for the reason prescribed to you.

In the past I have used diazepam(valium) - This benzo did nothing for me at low doses but at high (well high IMO) doses created a lovely, mellow, relaxed, euphoric feeling. But again, everyone experiences different effects.

Hi,

I'm prescribed 0.5mg clonazepam for racing thoughts and anxiety.

At this dose it does its job with no sedation and no euphoria.

2mg sedates and relaxes me, completely empties my mind and I drift off to sleep in 1-2 hours nicely. No euphoria.

3mg knocks me out 12+ hours. No euphoria that I can remember.

Everyones tolerance and dosage needed are different. IMO clonazepam is not a benzo to use if you are specifically seeking euphoric effects. I'm quite happy with the effects it has on me as they are what I'm after - though I use very occassionally as I don't want to build tolerance and addiction.

I have used diazepa(valium) in the past and experienced relaxation and euphoria at a high dose - nothing at a low dose. Euphoria was nice but not what I wanted.

If you are prescribed the clonazepam speak to your doctor about a switch to diazepam or research other benzos that create a euphoric effect and enquire about these.

Bear in mind I am on 600mg lithium carbonate daily for bipolar, zopiclone occassionally for sleep - use clonazepam for sleep when desperate between scripts (bad I know) and an unknown quantity/purity street speed/base - NOT meth - almost daily. This could have some impact on how the benzos affect me - not sure.

Manicmama xx

Edit - The only effect I get from opiates, even low dose codeine is sickness and a general feeling of wanting to die!

I guess what suits one doesn't suit another. I'll stick with my speed and my sleepers/clonazepam for a good nights kip when planning a few days off!

I used to love them in highschool and college, now I don't enjoy them at all. Now, by themselves, they just make me nap.

Hunter S., you've created two very similar threads asking basically the same question. Maybe the benzos are working after all ;)

I'm going to merge these two threads together.

If you dont feel anything positive from Benzos quit now while your ahead. ;)

This is the BEST advice, IMO.
God, how I wish I hadn't been so naive 4 yrs ago & had done research. Now I'm in benzo hell, taperin off this 4 yr addiction in 4 weeks! Fuck, this is gonna suck. From what I've researched a 4 wk taper is gonna still leave me fucked.. I need a few months! But yeah, run from benzos if you can!!
I'd "like" this post if I could..lol

I dont find them fun, i usally take them when im plain depressed and i want to leave reality for a while haha.

Most benzos are similar, but each has its unique characteristics which are mostly agreed upon because of subjective report. In any event, the effects at a low recreational dose (maybe 0.5 mg for someone with no tolerance) should include anxiolysis (anxiety relief), disinhibition, sedation, relaxation (of mind and body), and possibly hypnosis (sleep). There could be effects such as memory clouding and amnesia, but these tend to occur at higher doses. Disinhibition ties into impairment in judgement, which benzos can certainly cause. Motor skills and reflexes are to be a bit slowed down. Benzos are not truly euphoric drugs, but I would be lying if I said I never experienced benzo euphoria. However, they are not truly euphoric. People who use benzos recreationally usually do so for the relaxation and sedation, and often use them in combination with other drugs (often alcohol or opiates) to increase the level of relaxation and sedation. Some use them to de-stress, even without valid prescription, so I am not sure I would term this "recreational", but it certainly exists. Benzos did feel quite nice to me when I had no dependence, but they were not an "oh my god, this feels great!", more of a "this feels better because I am so calm and light" at lower doses, and "I feel very relaxed, and very sedated, and this is kind of nice" at higher doses. I can see why you might no find much from them due to the fact you are taking Abilify, which is very tranquilizing in its own way, being a neuroleptic. Perhaps the Trileptal and Zoloft, too, relax you in some way, or remove anxiety so that benzos don't do much when you take them in the way of anxiety if it does not exist. Do be careful with benzos, though. They are very addictive, even if you don't see yourself getting addicted, and true benzo addiction is hell. As others said, if they aren't for you, leave them alone.

i find xanax and klonopin to be the strongest commcercial RX benzos. they are Mg to MG equivalent. xanax is fast acting with a shorter half life, while klonopin is the opposite. both are sedating, while klonopin has muscle relaxant qualities while xanax more is mentally sedating. i been on kpin for 3yrs, and love it more than xanax, come to find out, kpin takes effect within 5-10mins, when taken orally, probably due to the fact my body is used to it and metabolizes is faster, generally is takes 400mins to take effect and lasts 8-12 hrs. xanax takes effect within 5mins or a duration of 3-6 hours, its odd how kpin hits me within mins. IMO kppin is the way to go. screw that 4x a day dosing. i can get by taking kpin 2x a day, and decrease dose without much rebound at all. kpin is like the methadone of opiates. idk i used to love xanax and hate kpins, now i prefer it over anything

Side note: please keep an eye on your legs while takin Abilify. Here's an old post of mine about what has happend to me now..
Abilify made me a little sleepy for the first week, the next 3 weeks were filled with hell. The sharpest pains to my legs you could imagine and non-stop movement.
I later found out the Abilify
caused atrodystrophy and
restless leg syndrome which
both are permanent. I'm now
on Requip and Percocets for
the pain this damn medicine
caused me. And it is listed as a
side effect.
Tread carefully with Abilify...
Not on percs anymore (have to go to PM to get them now) but the pain sucks and Requip is hit or miss..
