Benzos Benzos for stimulant overdose

With the huge amounts of etizolam going around recently, I've become curious as to quite how effective benzos are in the case of overdose of stimulant/other drugs. I've heard of people who have taken excessive doses of psychadelics being given IV valium, but I assume that is more to calm them down than as a safety precaution?

Anyhow, I couldn't find anything specifically in relation to harm reduction using benzos in an overdose situation (mild or otherwise), so I wondered if any other bluelighters might be able to inform us ignorant masses as to the effectiveness, safety, and doses required for this sort of thing. Not that I'm planning to overdose on anything of course

And before anyone replies with the risks associated with normal benzo use, I think it's well known that regular use of benzos is ineffective, highly addictive and dangerous, and has one of the worst withdrawals of any drug, so they should only be used occasionally if at all.

Sorry if this question has been asked elsewhere, I couldn't find anything relevent!

Benzos have always been around and readily available, just because some people are prescribed them long-term, I don't think the new availability of some random imported benzo is going to make a big difference in stimulant OD's.

I would be very careful with stims in the first place, it's usually the compulsive redosing and lack of sleep and food that gets you in terms of side effects and makes stim "OD's" more pronounced. So, have benzos on you by all means, as they are a godsend when things get hairy on stimulants, just don't think that they will solve all your problems and start binging on stimulants.

Basically, it's always good to have a fire extinguisher around, but don't try to make the biggest fire you can and think you're invincible with your extinguisher.

IME they take a while to kick in... so taking them for paranoia (rather than overdose) doesn't necessarily bring you the relief you'd like as quickly as you want it.

My fave use for benzos is to quell the sleep paralysis that follows a couple of nights after MDMA - very effective (take no more than you have to!) and better than sinking lots of booze!

It depends on what you mean by a stimulant overdose. A life threatening one? Then you should definitely go to the ER because nothing is going to be able to help you except trained medical professionals. Coming down or having a panic attack from stimulants? Then I would take benzos but they definitely aren't a silver bullet.

Yeah, I didn't expect them to help in the case of life threatening conditions, and I suppose the defusing panic attacks is pretty obvious, but I was more curious as to if the muscle relaxant effects help with the vasoconstriction and elevated heart rate?

^ Benzos are known to decrease both blood pressure and heart rate, I'm sure they would help to some extent when used for that purpose with stimulants.

I find cannabis to help more with the vasoconstriction, as THC/CBD are vasodilators, but I can't recommend smoking weed while you're tweaking on very high doses of stimulants, it will only increase the risk of anxiety or temporary psychosis, and cannabis causes tachycardia on its own 30 minutes in, but on low (prescribed) dosages, some people find cannabis to make the side effects of amps, like vasoconstriction, muscle spasms, and fatigue (on the comedown) bearable.

Benzos are better, though, and can help with the tachycardia (elevated HR) and can help lower blood pressure, but they should be used for emergencies, only, imo, to avoid addiction. Don't get in to the habit of popping an Etilaam every time you do your stims, unless you are already physically dependent on benzos, that is.

*yes dead on.... edit* just noticed u said the too much tweaking plus weed = bad sometimes as well.... psychosis of its own world... dual paranoia i like to call it from both sides... that shit blows.... haha


now see with me (I may go on a rant here fueled by my 4th daily dose of dextrostats... which i actually did take like the bottle said today.. yay for me) marijuana even in my days of 1/4 oz or more smoking daily i still would have horrible panic from this combination/ yet still did it habitually, like it was fun in a sick way.... with benzos and alcohol it could be easilly said yes no paranoia but when im having too much of a tweak out session gone paranoid like every other fucking day, and muscle tension, pot makes it worse unless the speed is truly over with... then its ok. this depends on the person. i know i am not alone here... and i loved pot, 2 times haave i smoked this year due to probation, not counting spice. so thats another accomplishment.

NOW for the overdose part.... benzos could and would and have been helpful in all sorts of types especially where its mainly paranoia or sedation is needed to calm me or the user down but in psychosis they may mix benzo with antipsychotics or in life threatening issues due to acute amphetamine or stimulant overdose clonidine or guanfacine would be likely.. as beta blockers would be bad for the heart, clonidine and the sorts don't .... so it depends on the overdose and situation at hand but i guarantee you benzodiazepines especially diazepam (IMO) since it wont rebound and has the muscle relaxing qualities and is quick hitting like alprazolam but much longer by far.... can be useful in any stimulant episode.

i hate not having them on hand... my dr has to up my diazepam next visit to 40mg or 30 even and im ok... plus the sleep aid... 15-30 temazepam mg and im set.... i need the shit but need to keep my dexies at the right dose daily too and I won't have as many panic issues.... hell i was using my last sonatas and extra suboxones last night to try to calm down...

80mg dex a day rxed can be used by me correctly or abused... im suppose to take 20 20 20 20 but if i want i can fuck it and take 40 40 20 (extra even and worry when my mother says you gotta think about your heart, when im telling her its okay i know what im doing, this is my life... lol fucked up when u think about it...) ^---------- but used or abused and 80 dex ir is still a lot..... he would top it at 100 i think but idk maybe later... if i can get that i wont need to self medicate as much...

keep benzos on hand all stimulant users should know this... hell any amount even a .25er of alprazolam would mentally ease my mind more than nothing at all... reality it would do shit but placebo... lol... 4 me.... benzos = fuck yes with all stims

I was in the hospital once for an overdose of LSD. I took 4 hits of hunabku's when i was 13 and apparently it made my heart rate so high i could have died. They tried giving me 2mg of ativan to slow me down but i was so high i would just dump the glass of water on my crotch and drop the pills on the floor. So yes, benzos are good for n overdose of uppers.

when i was recently hospitalized for a massive psychosis from way to many plugged dex and lack of sleep... ativan was administered im several times along with iv diazepam and they were shocked when they had said goodnight now shut up basically 3-4 times and shot me up and nothing but mild relaxing state lol.... i thought they were trying to kill me with my friends and family who were not there along with them dosing me i heard them all in the other room...

the last thing they gave me i was for sure knew it was gonna kill me... lol... whatever it was though, the benzos had me not as scared but i still needed something for the psychotic episode..... i woke up and saw flames lol for a sec thinking "oh God I fell asleep i died... woke up and saw the nurse's face (just a birthmark) was melted off like an evil being after the flames....

i am very open eyed to the power of these drugs and true psychosis after that shit... benzos helped regardless but antipsychotics were needed....

o i was so scared my friends conned me and made me look crazy and tricked me into callinhg 911 that night, when i did it all myself. lol... heard them all and police (besides the real police that came when called for me thinkin my uncle was gonna shoot me. hearing his daughters voice "no dad dont shoot him!") lol

im glad i can laugh about it now but holy fuck balls man... that was fucked up, thought my po was there and thought i killed a rabbit with iv heroin, lol then they "taggged it on youtube" none of which all happened... i was ready to go to prison and get fuckin dicked by big bad mother fuckers till 2 days later i talked with my mom and was so happy it was all not real...

11 days later i got out of the psych ward... they dont know ii abused my dex. dex wont let me tell its the addiction... but ill be more careful thats for sure lol....
