Benzos Benzos.......Are they really fun/recreational?

Xanax, Valium, Lorazepam, Clonazepam, Serax.

I have tried these mixed them ( I know stupid combining is not smart)

But taking these without combinations I feel no euphoria. I would think the Valium would give me euphoric effects, even the Xanax. I took 5mg of xanax and nothing.... well a feeling of relaxation but not a feeling you get after taking 5mg perc.

Do these benzos cause no euphoric effects.? Or am I just different from everyone else?

I really wish i could poll this thread. :\

And to all of you on Bluelight,
Cheers

Benzos aren't much in the rec dept. Think alcohol in a pill with a much cleaner feeling. Not much dopaminergic/serotonergic activity. This is why alcohol is considered more euphoric as it does mess with the D receptors...

Everyone enjoys different things, but personally I think xanax has high recreational value... makes you feel like you're floating through the air... loosens you up, of course it just knocks some people out, which isnt all that fun by itself. Lorazepam is pretty weak... anything less than 10mg isnt worth it imo, unless you are coming down off something else in which case they are really effective.

no cipralex won't affect the benzo high. They just aren't euphoric that's all, there are some exceptions but benzos do not give euphoria like opiates or stimulants.

mixing benzos is by no means a waste or a 'stupid' idea in my regard when you're chasing recreational value. benzos really aren't all that much in this regard anyway, but i used to get the best results with a mixture of different benzos.

it depends on your taste. Personally, I used to find them very recreational when I was 16, 17, but now (24) they do NOTHING but put me to sleep. And I find alcohol to be much more euphoric than benzos.

I agree, obviously drugs affect ppl differently and all it does is take the egde off of my anxiety (I have Social and GAD). I've never felt a euphoria from benzos. The best use I find from Valium is taking 10-20mg before going to the bar so i don't have to pay too much to get drunk lol

Benzodiazepines are not known for their euphoric or positive effects.

Is it recreational? Sure. Diphenhydramine is "recreational". Datura is "recreational". Gasoline can even be considered "recreational".

Basically, just because somethings recreational, doesn't mean that the effects are enjoyed by all or even most users, everyone's tastes vary individually. What some of us find to be great, others find to be trash, and vice versa.

From an HR standpoint, recreational drugs are judged against a risk vs. reward scale.

Abusing benzodiazepines for recreational purposes is stupid and will cause some changes to your mood if done repeatedly. They are tools used only for therapeutic use, and when carefully and respecfully dosed as directed by physicians, they are great medications. But recklessly abused by people dropping xanax bars and klonopin, etc. they will have some severe consequences especially upon habituation.

Benzos in my opinion are not recreational AT ALL. I used to try to make them recreational because of all the fuss I have heard about them, and the way doctors won't prescribe them, REALLY peaked my interest.

I have tried low dose, which basically does almost nothing except remove anxiety. High dose, I was wobbly all over and did not really enjoy it at all. Just wanted to sleep. I have tried mixing them with opiates, basically somehow took over the entire high. I have tried them with DXM and again, it takes over in this weird way in that I can only describe as "white vision". The only thing I found them remotely good for was with alcohol (albiet most dangerous!).

I have used Temazepam, Xanax, Diazepam and Nitro. They all suck lol....I have given up trying to find a recreational potential for them, because there is NONE....unless recreational (as it is for some people I know) is blacking out, and being out of reality because you are so intoxicated and just want to nod out. But any substance that is basically a CNS depressant can get you to this state really...each his own.

OP there is no absolute consensus regarding your question

However, almost everyone if not everyone would say that opiates cause more euphoria than benzodiazepines

In my opinion it depends all on if you have anxiety issues or not. I used to find benzos REALLY recreational and euphoric about 4 years ago, back when i was plagued with worry.

Today I am a person who is almost entirely anxiety free. So whenever I take benzos I find them to be not really euphoric--more sedating, relaxing, etc.

So all in all, the answer to your question depends on if you have worry and anxiety.

If you have taken a benzo and felt any euphoric effect, that's it.
The chances of you ever getting that same effect will never happen again.
(Yeah I know I can't back up what I am saying with "sources" etc, but this is only IME, and I mean decades of experience).
As others above have said, yes when mixed with other chemicals then they do potentiate and help getting to that euphoric goal (ie. taking a benzo on a stim comedown is damn euphoric for me.).

But benzos for recreation on their own......meh.

I've found benzos to be helpful in occasionally stressful situations. I went to the dentists, I took valium, I had no probs at the dentists and I can't remember much about my visit. Perfect result!! I'm not a very sociable person, I had to go to a gathering with lots of people crammed in a room. Valium helped me chill and I can't remember much about the event. Perfect result! Also, benzos help with my premature ejaculation, so I slip one in (the pill, that is) before i get down to the business, and there we go - I is sex God. This, I would suggest, is the most beneficial, life-enhancing way to use benzos. The worst thing you can do is get a daily dependence...*that* is not helpful whatsoever!

OP you're not alone at all. I've taken a range of benzos many times simply because so many people seemed to be saying they were recreational, but I've never really felt any appreciable "high" from them. Basically they just cause sedation and make me sloppy/stupid. If people enjoy that, fine, but definitely not for me. At least opiates, while sedating, give you that blissful feeling. Having said that, yes they're a really good sleep aid, but that's just using them for their therapeutic value rather than trying to get off on them.

Originally I thought this was a personal thing and that my neurochemistry must just be unique, but have since come across many other people who get little to no enjoyment from them. I'm honestly not really sure why they're abused so much, if I wanted to get high and have fun I would much prefer to take alcohol or even codeine, than a valium....

benzos...are they really fun/recreational?

well not if your having a fit or trying to come off them and your brain and train of thoughts feels like its gone through a potato ricer. if your looking for a 'high' from them you best look some place else! benzos are for bringing you down...and they will eventually take you down.

They are only recreational with sedative opioids (I know some will disagree with this) but we all know how stupid that is. I'm a big fan of excercise and I've found benzo's are somewhat more euphoric if taken after hard excercise session. But otherwise they just tend to be dysphoric for me.

I like benzo's but euphoric isn't a word I would use to describe their effects. Their effects can be quite subtle and I have known a lot of novice users to be totally off their heads and basically incoherent but think they weren't actually very impaired at all. I also think that people who suffer from anxiety are a lot more likely to enjoy the effects of benzo's than those who don't.
