benzos and valerian tea

i use benzos for sleep purposes. Never for abuse, just to help me sleep. Not crazy huge dosages... just regular 30mg - 60mg Temazepam or 30 Temazepam + .5mg clonazepam. at very most 30mg T + 1mg C.. Never more than that, and not 7days a week. Less benzo if i've been drinking. or for instance less benzo plus a small toke on some herb. not a bong rip or a bowl, just a few short tokes on a joint of mids or low end chronic/headies/whateverthefck you want to call 'good' herb. nothing special west coast import.''

I am trying hard to keep my tolerance from skyrocketing. I try to not use the max dosage every night, sometimes i skip and use some diphenhydramine. sometimes i have a few tokes and less benzos. sometimes a beer or two and less benzos... ie. i'm doing my best to never over do a dosage to keep the tolerance steady for as long as i can. even if it means a few nights of not so great sleep.

I am wondering about the combination of benzos and valerian (lose leaf form for tea; not capsules or 'extracts' or preblended teas.)
Anyone have experience with making valerian tea? how much tea to one cup 8-12 oz fluid. Boiled or lower temp? long steep or short steep, flavor additives (hibiscus, chamomile, peppermint etc.. to augment taste with minimal change in effect)

30mg temazepam + tea. or 1mg clonazepam + tea? 0.5 clonazepam + a few tokes + tea? something like that.

Or is the the valerian simply not helping with tolerance? is it also GABAergic - ie cross tolerance with benzos?

bottom line - I want to do what I can to keep the benzo tolerance/habit low, even if it means accepting some nights of getting less sleep.

I take capsules of valerian root/passion flower mix . Very relaxing, but doesn't really make me feel sleepy. For that I take melatonin (3mg) and diphenhydramine. Valerian doesn't seem to have cross tolerance with benzos .

thanks for the info.

Just a warning however. You should edit your post and remove source/pricing info. I know Valerian is not a controlled substance but at bluelight we just don't do pricing and sourcing.

Cheers mate.

I see. Thanks, I just posted in the welome forum about this very subject. Maybe you can help me out by taking a moment to see my thread at http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/591576-Hey-y-all .
As i mention in that post, I am a long time lurker and recently registered. I don't wish to break any rules here, therefore I posed a few questions in the thread I linked to. More specifically, in THIS thread, I posted the source and price of a perfectly legal OTC product. Is this against BL policy ? I will gladly remove the information, but didn't see any reference to such a situation in the greenlighters guide. Please help by directing me to more specific rules so that I may present my experiences and knowledge in a manner that is consistent with the rules here. Thanks !

It is against the rules I'm afraid, we don't allow sources for any drugs, OTC or not..

I'm really pleased you feel you can contribute to the site and want to double check the rules, its an excellent start and I hope you stick around! :)

If you are ever unsure about something feel free to pm me or another staff member.

The jury's out about whether valerian has any GABAergic activity or not, so am not 100% sure, but I imagine it's a weak agonist compared to benzos so I wouldn't be hugely concerned.

My apologies. I am now aware that there are guidelines for each specific forum, and will now be sure to read each one before I post in a thread. I see now that I violated rules 1 & 2 of BDD guidelines. I will be more careful in the future, and I certainly appreciate the friendly manner in which I was informed. Hat is off to effie and mgrady3 . Thank you both .

No problem, don't apologise - you checked the guidelines and rectified things, that makes us mods happy ;)

Wikipedia says it dos so it must be true
LOL. It is amazing how many people actually do take wikipedia for absolute truths.
One thing I can attest to from personal experience is that Valerian, or more specifically the valerian root/passion flower mix capsules I have are indeed very effective. I recently tapered off of buprenorphine, and after about a week of nonstop leg aches and muscle tension, even though I was already taking xanax, I took 2 of the capsules and my leg aches were completely gone within 30 minutes, and never returned. I could feel a very pronounced muscular relaxation through my entire body. I have never taken more than 2 capsules at one time, even the right on the bottle it says to take 2-5 capsules at one time, several times a day. I have also read online accounts of people taking large dosages for recreational purposes, but I haven't tried that and would not recommend it. There is no doubt that, at least for me, the effects were very obvious, and very fast-acting. In short, this stuff is well worth the money, and it's not expensive .
