Benzos Benzos and effect on zopiclone

Hi again guys and gals,

Just wondering if anyone knows what the net effect of benzos are on zopiclone.

What I mean by this is, will benzo use increase or nullify the effectiveness of zopiclone.

See, what I've found is that since I've started taking xanax (hoping to reduce my required high dose of zopiclone), that the overall effect of the zopiclone is actually reduced.

Im finding that i have to take a large dose of xanax, 4mg +, with about 4x7.5 mg zopiclones to start to feel sleepy.

Usually, before I ever took xanax, 4 zopiclones used to at least make me sleep, and 6 would knock me out after about an hour.
And this on an empty stomach as I've explained on another thread.

Sso what do people think is going on here?

I wish I had never started the xanax, and thankfully I've only got a few days worth left.

Im just waiting on some temazepam, which I know works very well with zopiclone, and I can take much lower doses of each, like 2 10mg tems and 2 or 3 zopis to work very well. Plus I find it euphoric unlike xanax or zopi on its own.

Any opinions welcome.

Tolerance... pretty sure we warned you about this in one of your other threads.

Alprazolam is many times more potent and works on the same receptors in your brain as zopiclone since they both are GABAergic.

You keep looking for euphoria and you're not going to improve your quality of sleep if you're still seeking to abuse your medication, and yes, that's what you're doing here, this is abuse.

I honestly would use me or the other. Like Tricomb said, alprazolam is much stronger than zopiclone, and though z drugs are not technically benzodiazpine's, they work on GABA A, so there is a cross tolerance. It's not that the Xanax is reducing the effectiveness of the zopiclone really, but that zopiclone's effects are less noticeable as they are overshadowed by the far stronger (and superior in every way-IMO) effects of alprazolam. It's kind of like someone on pain medication. They might start off on hydrocodone, but after a certain ammount of Time they will switch to a more potent medication such as methadone. Now if that person who's now taking say 20mg of methadone daily took a single vicoden, they wouldn't feel it at all due to the cross tolerance.

Definitely cross tolerant, i know it worked the other way round for me. My use (and abuse) of zopiclone sky rocketed my tolerance to Benzos. It actually pissed me off because i wasnt expecting it.

So is I stop the xanax use tomorrow, will the zopiclone work again?

People don't get "euphoricsendoff" so it would be best to get over this right now. If you stop the xanax then it will still be some time until zopiclone works again, and it will take even longer if to compensate for it's inefficacy, you pop more zopiclone to compensate. So don't do that, you're taking exceedingly high doses of benzodiazepines in ways they are not meant to be used, stop now before you have to worry about when you stop.

Will grapefruit juice help with xanax and zopiclone ?

I Take it from these comments there's no point in taking them both.

But my tolerance for xanax is already very high, 8mg doesn't knock me out.

I had to dose twice yesyetday. First time 4 zopis and 4 x,x.

Did not do much.

Then ate.

Then had to do the same on empty stomach.

Finally slept.

Sad case I am I know. I need help.
Temazapan im hoping will be my answer.

Temazepam is not going to be your answer with zopiclone, you need to taper down and use reasonable doses.

My best advice to you honestly would be decide which medication you want to use, whether it's temazepam or zopiclone, then adjust to taking one of them at a reasonable dose.

8mg Xanax is not acceptable by any means for insomnia, especially with a Z-drug being factored in. You're really messing up your GABA for no reason, this is not a healthy way to treat insomnia.

What does messing up my gaba mean?

Ve already decided, jainozy thanks to u guys, that im going to stop xanax as soon as my supplies are exhausted. Probably tomorrow.
I need to get temazepam but that's proving difficult.
This is what I've decided. For now cos my z tolerance is way too high.

And honestly I don't really like the effect of any other benzo.
