Benzos and back issues?

So this is my situation, i take 2-4 mg xanax per day for panic attacks and all is (relatively) well with that. Recently i hurted my back at the gym and i've been to the doc twice and he just told me to take Naproxen, it does nothing... My issue isn't so much the pain, but the "stiffness" and cramping (i did told him that). In short i need to get my muscles relaxed and i have used my massage chair, sauna etc. and they dont help so here's what i thinked about doing:

Take 1 mg xanax + low dose diapam or temazepam.
or 1 mg xanax and lyrica or some muscle relaxer in it's place.

What would you do?

Well temazepam has great muscle relaxant properties, as does diazepam.
I'd mix one of those with some naproxen or ibuprofen and see what happens.

You're in Finland, do you guys have tetrazepam up there? That is a very strong muscle relaxant (but weak sedative, anxiolytic, etc).

Diazepam seems more effective than alprazolam. Honestly, a higher dose of ibuprofen, like 600mg 3x a day seemed to take the inflammation out (I re-tore a disc in my lower back less than a week ago, and the muscles have been tightly spasmed and it's been really painful)...I actually took a HOT shower last night that was a bit on the longer side and for the first time in almost a week, the spasm seemed to relax...so this is another idea.

^ Yes, diazepam is a much better muscle relaxant than alprazolam. In fact, alprazolam's muscle relaxant properties are very limited. It is just an highly powerful anxiolytic, but everything else - alprazolam really isn't much.

^ Ah, and I forgot --- if you can manage to find any Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine), that's also really effective. Doctors usually toss that and a small hydrocodone prescription at me when I re-injure my back.

Yes, how can we forget cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril). That is a great muscle relaxant and sedative. Take that with 600-800 mg ibuprofen and you should be feeling much better.

i would be inclined to agree Diazepam is not the most powerfull anti anxiety medication even so this depends on dosage but it has great muscle relaxing proporties.Oddly to say out of the above benzodiazepines mentioned the most beneficial muscle relaxent would be diazepam . Example people coming of alcohol addiction are given in the uk mainly diazepam or or librium aka chlordiazepoxide excuse the grammer lol to treat which if gone unoticed can be fatal DTS dellerium tremmors which can kill so you can imagine at the correct dose with a bit of tappering here or there diazepam 4 yourself would be most beneficial be good.

Tetrazepam isn't sold here, i already got in contact with a healthcare professional that i know of in Germany in an effort to get some of it (legally), but it's highly unlikely... Ibuprofen is something i take now and again, but i feel that it only helps with headaches. I know that diazepam and temazepam are better muscle relaxants than alpratzolam, but i only mentioned xanax, because i'm afraid not to take any because of my anxiety issues. I know that many here like the idea of mixing benzos, but i'm afraid of it, unless it's a very minimal dose (dumb i know) and the reason is that one of my ex co-workers had an "episode" with mixing benzos. His dosages were sky-high so my fears are pointless, but still in the back of my head. Hydrocodone isn't prescriped here for allmost anything, i got some after a surgery and even that was a battle. I do have oral morphine, tramadol and codeine, but i don't feel they really have place in my situation. Of course everyone knows that if you take morphine your on cloud 9, but i try to save it when i'm really in pain.

My tolerances are: benzos = very high, opiates = medium, stimulants = low, alcohol = very high (not that i'd drink with a shitload of meds. in me.

So from your collected and educated advises i think i'll take diazepam + naproxen and maybe a little xanax... If that doesn't work i'll try temazepam + lyrica, tomorrow (btw i like that idea). Cyclobenzaprine is not sold here... F##k i'm now more confused than before... :D

Thank you all!

Since you have a codeine I suggest you take some temazepam (the dose you think is right for you) with some codeine. You said you have a medium tolerance to opiates, so I suggest 60 mg codeine along with the temazepam should take care of the pain.

Just don't overdo the opiate/benzo mixture as it can be very dangerous, especially temazepam. A little bit of both will give you relief and is perfectly safe.

My diazepam works wonders. Multi tasks for anxiety and for back pain. Also try the lyrica, just know it causes weight gain. Ibuprofen is way better than naproxen in my opinion!
