I have always known that Benzodiazepines help in reducing the negative side effects of alcohol withdrawal but after doing some minimal research, I still have a few questions.
Everything I have read so far states that Benzo's are used to reduce the chance of seizures and the escalation to Delirium Tremors. I have also read that they help to alleviate the other symptoms of alcohol WD but what exactly does this mean? Are all of the symptoms reduced or only a select few? Would it be possible for someone with mild, moderate or sever WD to have a painless detox with the use of Benzo's?
Lastly, why is it that Benzo's will help with alcohol WD but not vice versa?
Thanks in advance!
