Benzos Benzodiazepines and causing Cancer.

I have read a bit about Benzos causing Cancer something to do with possible Immune System Suppression. I was just wondering if anyone has any more information on this as I use them once a week and Valerian Root Daily.

"Researchers tracked more than 10,500 people who were prescribed sleeping pills for an average of 2.5 years between 2002 and 2007. Prescribed sleeping pills included benzodiazepines, such as Restori; non-benzodiazepines, such as Ambien, Intermezzo, Lunesta, and Sonata; barbiturates; and sedative antihistamines. The researchers compared survival among these patients with that of 23,500 people matched for age, sex, lifestyle factors, and underlying health problems who did not take sleeping pills."

There will have to be more specific studies done before any conclusive evidence can be presented.

Well I guess I will just look at it like this is no more harmful to me than say Alcohol?

I wonder what the mechanism would be here, or if it's just 100% due to immunosuppression. That is, if there is indeed any theoretical correlation between benzo use and cancer.
