benzodiazepine discussion thread

since i know several people on here hate me because they feel like i ask too many benzodiazepine questions (which i admit i do) i decided to just make a single discussion thread. so from now on i will simply post all my questions in this thread and you wont have to deal with anymore threads. also, anyone else is free to join this thread and ask your questions and we can all discuss benzodiazepines ad infinitum.

to start things off, i have a question about dependency. specifically, i want to know how the half life and quantity and type of consumption affect depedency. for example, lets say someone was prescribed 1.5 mg of xanax per day. if they used this script as prescribed, they would eventually develop a physical dependency and expeirence withdrawal upon cessation. but what if they instead abused the prescription and took 6 mg once every 5 days. could they actually avoid dependency by abusing the prescription like this even though they were still consuming the same quantity per month?

and to complicate things further, what if the benzo had a much longer half life? would intermittent dosing be more likely to cause depedency in that case, since it would still be in their system all the time reguardless of whether they used it every day?
 
In general drugs with short half life are easier to get hooked on, but drugs with long half life are harder to give up because the withdrawal symptoms are greatly extended. However the withdrawals from drugs with short half life may be more intensely unpleasant in the short term.

So you would expect triazolam and midazolam to be the most addictive initially as they are fast acting short lasting benzos, but long lasting ones like diazepam and clonazepam would be more difficult to quit once you've become habituated to using them regularly. Benzos are all pretty addictive in my experience, that rebound insomnia and anxiety is a bitch...

And once every 5 days is probably still too often, it'd be better to have a decent weekend long binge once every 6 weeks or so if you wanted to abuse them recreationally yet avoid addiction.
 
Hey here's an idea why not UTFSE instead of posting endless (and imo pointless) threads on benzos. Also you appear to be posting the same questions over and over again. Surely you got the answer the first time?

8) read the thread, there won't be endless threads because all questions can be directed here. if finding the answer to this specific question is such a simple matter of using the search engine, why dont you use it and post the answer here to prove it?

so basically binging on them once in a while will prevent addiction even if you consume roughly the same monthly quantity as someone who uses small amounts every day?

and are you sure using them once every five days is too often? i mean someone who got drunk once every five days wouldnt be an alcohol or suffer withdrawal when stopping.

I can assure you the answer to your question can be found via the search engine, that is if you are capable of using it. I was almost tempted to actually provide you with links however it would be a pointless exercise as I am doubtful that it would prevent your inevitable dependance. Does it not strike you as odd that you seem to be completely facinated by benzos? Perhaps you should take onboard the comments made by those who 'hate' on you? How old are you anyway?
 
MONSTA!! give the kid a break, why do your care so much if he asks questions that have been asked before? Does it hurt you that they're being asked again? Does it cause you some great pain? He's consolidating discussion of benzos into one thread, which I think is a good idea as many other major topics have their own thread, and benzos probably deserve one too.

Anyway to answer your question, 1.5mg a day would definitely leave you with a dependance. Using less often will decrease your chance of a physical dependance (although, IMO, increase your chance of a psychological dependance). And yes, a longer half life benzo like clonazapam or diazapam IS more likely to cause dependance when used sporadically.

My recommendation is that if you want to avoid physical dependance, if you're using a short acting benzo, only use on weekends. If you're using a long acting benzo, use only every second weekend.

so if your goal is to "prevent my inevitable dependence" but backing up what you say upon my request wont accomplish that can you explain how you think your current response will? either provide links and the search terms you used to find the answer so easily or quit critisizing this thread.

- is benzo withdrawal similar to opiate withdrawal? How long does it take to get dependant on 2mg of clonazepam a day?
 
id say that benzo WDs are similiar in some ways to opiate WDs, but much more pronounced and serious...you can DIE from benzo WD.

however, in general they share many of the same symptoms except i notice that benzos prove to be more physically excruciating.

id say that a person could become dependant on ANY dose of clonazepam within a 3 week period if used daily.
 
a good analogy of the two WD experiences would be:

opiate WD= mental torture

benzo WD= physical torture

the opiates mental symptoms suck ass and also affect ur body just as any phsycial sypmtoms will affect ur mind and vice versa. dont get this confused and think that opiate WD is purely mental and benzo is purlely phsyical, but i just feel thats the best way to compare them. sure the phsyical symptoms of opiate WD suck, but u can deal with them and be physically healthy however the depression and anxiety it causes are tremendous. and with benzos the WDs suck too, they cause severe phsyical symptoms AND mental symptoms both of which are not to be messed with IMO.

benzo withdrawal is more like a more drawn out version of alcohol withdrawal from what i understand.

i dont know the answer to your second question.
 
I work with a woman with a 20-25mg a-day xanax habit and when she dosent have them she has a 24-7 panic attack. Seams worse that opiates addiction.

bro, bluelight isn't the place to be asking benzo type questions since the majority of forum members and moderators do not know much when it comes to benzo pharmacology and also most bluelight members and mods are also anti-benzo. Your doctor or pharmacist could answer these better.

id do it for your whole bank account (assuming it contained more than some spare change), just please stop posting these bets until youre actually willing to put your money where your mouth is.
