Benzocaine

Is it illegal to be in posession of benzocaine in its own form?

I'm looking to take some away to the white isle and was curious to know whether

1) I'd be able to throw it in my suitcase with no worries

2) Will any repercussions follow if it is confiscated off me

I know that if it is found in my suitcase then it will be confiscated, but i'm not sure whether i can be arrested and charged with anything.

Hard to without knowing where you live or the law there. Generally speaking benzocaine isn't illegal, but they might arrest you first and figure out what it is later. That's what usually happens when the cops find a bag of white powder, at least where I live.

I'm pretty sure there is something called possession of a "look-a-like" substance. However that's just what I heard from newspaper articles(not the best source lol) when people were caught SELLING shit like oregano. Why not just go to the store and purchase the cream? What's your intended use for it?

Personally I wouldn't risk it, and I haven't flown in so long that I don't even know if you're allowed to carry that cream either.

Maybe this should be sent to legal discussion.

^ If you are selling a bunk product as an illegal substance, whether you are aware it's bunk or not, then yes you can be charge with attempting to sell/traffick an illegal drug.

At least here in Australia, I'm sure the same applies in the USA. Ha ha, I was just recently reading about a guy who got caught with what he thought were a bunch of ecstasy tablets but were really M&Ms.

Drug laws are usually enforced at a state level in the US, laws vary quite a bit. Where I live you would be charged with presenting non-controled substance as controled, class A misdemeanor. Probably just having benzocaine wouldn't be enough, they have to prove you were trying to sell it as coke........BUT they probably would arrest you and charge you with possession of coke and you'd either have to bond out or set in jail until they test it and dismiss the charges. Which could take months.

Benzocaine isn't going to throw any scent, so I don't see why you don't just put it (if it is in powder form) in a baby powder bottle and take it that way.
