After 5 years of daily benzo use ,clonozopam mostly I've been clean for 4 months
No taper just cold turkey, tapering wasn't an option due to my alcoholism I was told
I'm now able to interact with people but still lack confidence which is why I used benzos in first place probably
My memory works fine for things related to work maybe because it's been conditioned that way over the years but for general situations I find I'm forgetting things
I will give you an example and this is awful
Last week I walked up to my local shop with my dog and tied him up outside ( I know that's wrong in its self) I then left the shop walked home and sat and watched TV for 10mins until my wife shouted on the dog and then I suddenly remembered, I've never run so fast in my life ,luckily he was sitting quietly waiting on me ,I can't remember being so panicked
I know benzos affect memory but I guess I'm asking anyone who has went through a similar situation if its permanent
Sorry for long post

It’s too bad you had to go cold turkey. I’m slowly tapering off lorazepam and find I forget things, last night I forgot to take my lorazepam before bed (I did sleep though.). It does have me worried because I’m in my 60s and I keep wondering if it’s more than just the lorazepam causing it.

From everything I’ve read it isn’t permanent. I’m sure yours is amplified because of the cold turkey though. That’s scary about your dog! I’m glad he was safe and you remembered quickly.
