first question
I take valium on average about 5 times a month. when i first started with valium 35mg would give me a relaxed feeling. Now I cant get any effect from it.

last time i took it i started with 60mg I also had 50mg of temazepam. anyways I ended up taking 150mg all up of valium (highest dose of benzos ive ever had, second with 8mg of xanax) & couldn't notice any difference to 60mg. It's like once u get a tolerance it doesnt matter how uch u take. I bet if I would have taking 300mg i wouldnt have noticed a difference.

So this makes me wonder if benzo tolerance plateaus & once ya tolerance to maybe 100mg valium for example or so it doesn't matter how much ya take the effects are still not increased

just a suggestion
any ideas?

second question
I used to take xanax but these days only take diaz & temaz. Sometimes I can go up to a month without taking any benzos but still take the same dose which only has the same subtle effect at most as it did before having a break for a month.
its not much stronger in effect than a few cups of tea yet it used to work with i first started taking it.
for an example say how long do u think it would take of not taking benzos do u think it would to half ya tolerance. Like 50mg would have the same effect as 100mg of valium used to have before having a break

Im guessing it would be about 6 months to half ya tolerance. It seems insane the amount of time it takes for tolerance to lower with benzos imo
any experiences?

I wanna get the same care free experience I used to from 35mg even if i have to take over 100mg to achieve it.

third question
Another thing ive noticed that ive got a tolerance to benzos I can dose as much as i want before I drink & it doesnt get me any more wasted than if i didnt take the benzos.
Im just curious if any one else can take benzos & than drink without the benzos potentiating the alcohol.
I'll make a note for HR that mixing alcohol with benzos is dangerous & if u must do it always take the benzos & wait for them to kick in before starting to drink for obvious reasons.
I remember mixing oxy, diaz & alcohol without any problems. I didn't feel any more intoxicated than I usually would from drinking.
any experiences?

forth question
Does anyone know the bioavailability of sublingual use of benzos compared to oral dosing?

thanks for any help in advance. I just wanna get back to the point where benzos actually make me relaxed again!!

Hi Anon -

1. I know of people who have been on higher doses than 100mg and I don't know of a plateau - logically there must be one but AFAIK it's high enough not to be a concern. I may be wrong though! How did 60mg feel? Benzo tolerance can rise rapidly..

2. Not sure.. it will depend on the person and how long you have been on it. Hopefully someone else can give you a better answer!

3. Benzos and alcohol definitely potentiate each other for me, not sure about everyone though..

4. I don't know but I always sublingual my benzos. Bioavailability megathread - doesn't have s/l but has oral. Logically, sublingual can't be any less than oral as any you don't absorb you swallow with your saliva..

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/266339-Bioavailability-Half-life-MEGA-Thread
Alprazolam- 80-90% oral halflife 9-20 hours
Bromazepam- oral 84% half life 10-20 hours
Cinolazepam- Bioavailability 90-100%, Half life 9 hours
Clobazam-oral 90% 18 hour half life
Clorazepate-oral 91% halflife-36-100 hours
Chlordiazepoxide Oral bioavailability-100% IM-90-95% half-lives of its metabolites range from 14—100 hours
Clonazepam-oral 90% IM- 93%
Diazepam oral bioavailability:85-100%, Protein binding: 94% to 99%
Estazolam-oral 93% half life 10-24 hours
Lorazepam: 78% intranasal, 85-90% oral
Midazolam oral 36-40%, nasal 55%, IM 90%+,
Flurazepam-oral 83% halflife is 40-250 hours
Temazepam-oral 96% halflife is 8-20 hours
Quazepam- Bioavailability 29-35% Half life 39 hours

seems like the bioavailabilitys arnt worth worrying about which way i take it, them being very high

Indeed - sublingual kicks in faster though and I am impatient ;)

Agreed always under the tongue for me it definitely kicks in allot quicker

Tolerance is a bitch, I'm not sure you can ever get back to square one and for me tolerance builds really quickly now where as when I first stared on Benzos it was quite slow.

When I was drinking heavily Diaz definitely potentiated alcohol to quite an extent, although I would say by far its biggest effect was on motor function which I want used to. I could down the best part of a bottle of whiskey and walk and talk perfectly normally (I'd probably be taking shite but no slurring etc) add in benzos and I would be falling about all over the place but could still talk with no problems, not a pretty site especially when you collapse in a foreign Hotel:\

Is it not about time that the Med technicians designed a new benzo which didnt raise tolerance at all or if so at a much much slower rate?

maybe a gaba reuptake inhibitor. i dont think i know what im talking about
