Benzo tappering problem [valium excluded]

Hi people

I'm on 3mg xanax a day and i want to get to a longer acting benzo to tapper down more easily. I'm seing my doc this afternoon.

The thing is that I don't want to ask him for valium because I know I will abuse it and fuck my taper up.

Do you know any benzo with a long half-life with no recreationnal value?

I was thinking about tranxene (clorazepate) or Nordaz (nordazepam), maybe lysanxya (prazepam).

Any experience with tappering with those?

I see everywhere that diazepam is the must fur tappering down, but I have no self control and since I love the effect of valium I won't be able to tapper down with that.

If you know you're going to abuse it and fuck up your taper, then you need to put your pills into the hands of someone who can be trusted to give you X number of pills daily and no more.

You could also ask the pharmacy for daily pick ups to see if they'll do that.

There are benzos with long half lives, but none without any recreational value.
 
Never tried Librium, might be a good idea but I don't think we have those in France.

@Captain: I live by myself, and can't think of anybody who would be willing to handle me pills for month on a daily basis...

some benzo have no recreational value, well I remember that prazepam sucked. Oxazepam too...

I'm interested in Nordazepam since i've read that the anxiolitics (sp?) effects are the same as diazepam but without the euphoria/quick onset.

Might ask for that, or Clorazepate (tranxene). Tried it a couple of times, good for anxiety but don't remember any recreational value...

Where there are brackets beside a drug in there is the drugs brand name (Well 1 brand name, as there can be many brands), not the drugs name!

All benzo's can be used recreationally, the whole "<Insert Benzo> isn't recreational!" thing is just peoples personal choice, body chemistry or incorrect dosing/under-dose.

If you like benzo's and take a large enough dose of a certain one you will be able to use/abuse it unless for some reason it's not to your taste.

Prazepam(Lysanxya) I've never heard of, but Clorazepate(Tranxene) I've heard is very pleasurable and strong. Traxene's lowest dosed pill is 3.75mg then 7.5mg and their strongest is 15mg.
You best bets would be either Chlorodiazepoxide(Librium), Diazepam(Valium) or Nordiazepam(Nordaz) all of these have long half lifes, making them perfect for tapering.

Now here're the problems : -

+All three are recreational/abuseable.

+Chlorodiazepoxide(Librium), breaks down into Diazepam(Valium). (Which is the you one you're worried about).

+The Diazepam(Valium) then breaks down into Nordiazepam(Nordaz) Temazepam(Restoril) and Oxazepam(Serax) (This also happen when you take Diazepam(Valium) or Nordiazepam(Nordaz) seperately, not just with Chlorodiazepoxide(Librium), ).

By the way all Nordiazepam(Nordaz) is is the first metabolite that the liver turns Diazepam(Valium) into. The thinking for releasing Nordiazepam(Nordaz) was that it would when taken kick in faster since it doesn't need to be metabolised into it's active form. It does however need to be metabolised further to produce Temazepam(Restoril) and Oxazepam(Serax) I don't know how this affects half life though, but I imagine it still having a long ass half life!!!

You need one of them long half life benzo's and maybe need someone to hold them for you and give you the pills when you need them. Do the detox slowly and tell the person who you are giving your benzo's to that they need to learn some stuff about benzo' withdrawl incase you need your pills in a bad situation i.e. detoxing too fast and having a fit. Get them to read that site.

And tell your doc' you do want to detox!!!

For everyone's information, the OP is in France and the longest half life for any benzo isn't offered in France, so that's why I didn't even suggest it.

That's why I like flurazepam so much. I can wake up after being high off of it, and I'm still high when I wake up. Very pleasant after effect.
 
Thanks for all the help guys, but I just came back for the doc (the hour might not add up since i'm now in new-caledonia) and he was all like:
"No no kid xanax is easier to withdraw from since it as a short half-life, benzo with long half life are much harder to come down from, ok you want to tapper down let's make you go from 3mg to 2mg a month that's do the trick"

That' new-caledonia's doc for you

He probably doesn't realize that short acting benzodiazepines are a lot harder to taper from than long-acting ones.

What a tard.
 
Yeah I know, I respectfully tried to tell him so (about short acting benzodiazepines being a lot harder to taper) and he was (as expected) all like "hey m'boy who's the doc here?"

I'm not going to recommend his institution to my friends

Librium is LIBRAX in France (5mg capsules)... tetrazepam (Myolastant) is a pretty shitty benzo too but its half life is like 10 hours about... similar to that is oxazepam (seresta)... pretty shitty benzo...

clorazepate (tranxene) has a very long half life and is a bit weaker than diazepam in its anxiolytic effects but doesn't have the muscle relaxer or sedative effects of diazepam....
i would recomend the later

Yep I did my research and I found out that Librium was indeed available. Why not.
Tetrazepam doesn't even make me less anxious sadly :(
Oxazepam is garbage and it's half-life isn't even that long actually

Tranxene, you are right, would be the best option but for some reason it's really difficult to get some nowadays... To much abuse in the past, like rohypnol.

If I had the choice It would be nordaz, tranxene or lysanxia...

I'll see that with my next doc (the dude never even heard about the AD I am on (Protiadien (Dosulepine), I think it's something like duthiepine in the US? An old TC AD). For a doctor, that really sucks.

Librax is a very low dose of Librium (maybe 1/5 a recreational dosage... just guessing on that though), and it is combined with a dose of Clinidium which is probably not going to cause you any problems, but you should know that you're not just getting Librium there. I'm prescribed it for stomach problems.

If you have the option you might want to try Lorazepam. I can be on a low dose (1mg) for a couple weeks straight and then drop off for a couple weeks and not crave it at that level.
 
I get valium. Take about 4 a day. I chose those over kp's because of the half-life. All i have to do is eat .5mg in the morning and i feel ok for a while.

Considering valium has a half-life of 200hours. Works better for me than any other benzo IME.

Though excluding valium. Xanax has anti-depressant value to it. Takes longer for to kick in for me but seems to linger. Lorazepam is one of the weakest benzos. They done no good for me:\
