Benzo Taper - seizure risk?

It has been, but every situation is individual and we try not to make big megathreads here, unlike in Other Drugs..
If it definitely veers into general benzo taper chat I will close it, but I want to give the OP a chance to come back and respond so he can discuss his situation

I was in detox center a few years ago for alcohol. I was on 8mg of klonopin a day also for 7 years. When they found out they took my medicine and said I was not to have it and that were going to detox me off that to against my wishes. They gave me phenabarb a few days then had to give me tons of anti siezire medicine. Its a bitch mentally even physically. Needless to say I got back on them but this was not that reason I checked myslf in. I was not ready to give up my benzos.

Okay thank you everyone, just to clarify I have probably been on benzos for like 5 months total now and it was around 50mg a day initially and I came down to the 35mg gradually.
BUT the thing is, my doctor was helping me to do this has left the country and another doctor just cut me down to 10mg a day, so I was kinda supplementing with my own supply but I can't get them anymore from that source hence I have to come down quickly to my 10mg a day prescribed dose. I think I will try the taper you suggested tripman (thanks for that by the way!)
Mentally I am holding it together but my muscles get very tense and my fingers shake to the point it is hard to type sometimes

That's a fucking rough situation, wooger. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through the motions of BZD withdrawal. Keep us updated please?

someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not really sure if you can go into benzo wd induced seizures if its only been 5 months but like I said I'm not sure. I'm no expert by any means. With me they had me freaking the fuck out in detox because they kept uping my doses of anti seizure medicne every hour because I was on kpins for 7 years. I def know about the muscle tenseness and hands trembling. I also got what they call "jelly legs". Its from benzo wd's and basically when u walk your lefs feel like jelly. Real wobely feeling and u feel off balance. Mentally was bad too. Have you spoken with your new doctor about your concern with seizures. Or thought about going to a detox center for about a week ? They are not all that bad. Almost like a short term rehab facility, at least where I went it was like that.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking here - are you asking whether or not its possible that you might experience benzodiazepine withdrawal seizures after five months of abstinence from a seven year pattern of use? If so, I would say you're fine. Seizures resulting from such withdrawal more often occur due to the acute spike in glutamate and impaired GABA activity, which subsides with time - Usually relatively quickly compared to the total duration of BZD withdrawal.
