I have a real anxiety disorder, (social anxiety with the occasional panic attack) whenever i take klonopin which is my favorite, or xanax sometimes i tend to over do it. I love them tho they completley change me into a fearless productive motivated person but i act ridiculous when taking to much. Are there other GABA acting drugs that i should consider? And also i experience pretty bad rebound anxiety after taking high doses is this normal for everyone or just people prone to anxiety?

Benzos can cause a paradoxical reaction when used in excessive doses, i.e. instead of calming you down, they do the opposite.

Maybe you could try pregabalin? It's indicated for GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) also (at least where I live).

that's not a paradoxical reaction rather just the result of a benzo coming out of your system like a tiny withdrawal.

anyway, yes that will happen to people prone to anxiety far more so than someone not.

if you have a legit anxiety disorder then you cannot abuse your medication for it. You'll cause yourself far worse issues than you started with.

I know only a little bit about Lyrica, are you prescribed it personally? if so how does it affect you? & if not i would like to know more.

Seriously don't take more than prescribed. I was recently put on a benzo after trying several SSRIs, bupropion, trazodone, depakote, lithium, riperidone, paliperidone, Valerian, holy basil, melatonin, and kava in terms of drugs, all for multiple months; and extended meditation, extended therapy, and exercise for enduring social anxiety. Have you tried as much?

I can do the same with alprazolam, but have noticed this never happens to me with diazepam (even at higher doses). I think the half-life is something to consider pretty consciously, especially if you've had these types of reactions only with shorter-acting benzos. If this is a problem, however, be aware that the same type of reaction or worse will probably occur with most of the Z-drugs. It totally depends on the person, but even with myself, 20mg (two 10mg tabs) of ambien will make me go into blackout mode...
