Benzo interaction with Depakote

Hello Bluelight,

About a year ago I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I have been prescribed various SSRI's, anti-psychotics, and benzos (but never any combination of those at the same time).Earlier today, I was put on a new drug called Depakote (valproic acid, an alternative to lithium salts).

I have looked up possible interactions between the two, and have heard/read everything from inhibition of metabolizing the drug to severe drowsiness.

Does anyone here have some experience or knowledge?

yes mixing it with benzos will increase drowsiness.

Haha alright thanks for the quick reply man. I was a zombie from seroquel got a while and it sucked. I'm gonna avoid that that combo

its not just that combo that will turn you into a zombie, Depakote by itself will turn you into a zombie.

its different from antipsychotic's zombie feeling, Depakote will make you more depressed and less sedated.
