Benzo / gear smoking question

Kind of random guys so please bare with me.

Two of my contacts called me on Sunday and I met up with them as they both had new batches in.

I smoked all of it except for 2 bags which I snorted. A few days later I did a drug test on myself to see if it was just heroin I was getting or wether it was some strange addition.

I tested positive for opiates and benzos, which knowing the scene and the relationship between the two families of drugs is no massive surprise and something that has happened before.

Now my question is this: I understand if the benzos would enter my system from snorting it due to some of it going down my throat and into my stomach (also depending on the particular type of benzo it could be snortable). But, let's say for arguments sake, that I only ever smoked the stuff, would I still test positive for benzos? From my understanding you can't smoke benzos (I may be wrong there, I'm no expert) but even though there is no effect on me would it still enter my system and test positive just from smoking?
 
well, heroin is indeed regularly cut with benzos. i believe it was shambles offering your viewpoint to me when i was mooting on the effects of benzos in heroin

i think maybe it depends on the tests issued. if they only test for the specific metabolised benzo trace, or if any trace sets it off. you are still assimilating it into your body - whether it affects the nervous system or not, one would assume
 
Actually, this raises the question why is gear regularly cut with benzos/barbs if they are not active when smoked? I suppose it could be for the 'benefit' of IV users, though it's a pretty insidious practice because the IV user could find him/herself with an unwitting benzo/barb addiction and the extra problems associated with withdrawal from these substances.
 
Most benzos are active when smoked. Moreover, they're almost exclusively found in their freebase form.

It's difficult to smoke a valium pill, for example, because of the fillers and binders. Mix diazepam powder with caffeine, say, and other substances to help it 'run', and it becomes easy.

Same is true of barbs.
 
I remember once having an argument with my DSP when a urine test showed up positive for benzos & opiates.
I'd told them I had used so they expected the opiate positive but I had a job convincing them I hadn't used any benzos.
At that time I had no idea that benzos were cut into my gear.
 
It's at least a year and a half since this last happened but I hate it when you get some gear and its weak as hell but been cut with barbs or maybe even an antipsychotic and it shuts your brain down, you get fuck all warm opiate rush but your brain just shuts down. It can be similar to what antipsychotics do to me, my brain just dulls massively. It might sound unlikely but I honestly think at times a few bags have been suspicious.

You would be surprised at the amount of gear that has barbs in it , it potentiates the gear so its kinda a good thing. Many years ago I was on a 2-3 month run and getting the gear from one source - it was heavily cut with barbs as i fouind out when i stopped and had a horrible wd experience
