Benzo and adderall mix doing nothing?

This morning, for the hell of it, I decide to take a benzo (2mg xanax, very little tolerance to benzos) with my regular dose of adderall. The benzo did absolutely nothing and the adderall worked the same. 1mg of xanax can usually adequately knock me out.

Oh come on, a lot of people mix benzos with stims. Someone should know this.

Well, of course it didn't knock you out. You're on a strong stimulant drug, so any sedative effect of the benzo is gonna be negated. That said, benzos can be good for getting rid of anxiety and the 'twitchiness' you get on stims sometimes.

I didn't expect it to knock me out, but expected to feel SOMETHING different than just adderall alone. Maybe if addies give you anxiety a benzo would help, but stims are extremely anxiolytic to me. In high doses I'll shake and appear jittery, but still mentally calm.

How high of a dose of adderall did you take? Maybe you take enough adderall to not even notice the small (in relation to your possible adderall dose) amount of xanax? Just a theory, I have never mixed adderall and benzos before.

20mg IR. I'm prescribed 40mg XR (two 20mg) in the morning and 20MG IR in the afternoon. I'll only have fun once in a blue moon and take two days worth of pills in one, going without them the next day, so my tolerance isn't sky high.

I doubt it. 2mg of xanax is quite a bit to someone who almost never does benzos.

0.125mg Xanax (or 2.5mg Valium) for every 25mg Adderall/Dexedrine for best results, any more benzo just kills the therapeutic amp effects.

I believe - may be wrong - that xanax is almost equal in potency to Clonazepam. I've never taken such a large dose of Clonazepam WITH my amp, but taken 3mg few hours later to aid sleep - which knocked me out. Following day I eat loads of amp and it barely touched me, slept soundly. The day after that, my amp was STILL nowhere near as effective as usual. Since then I stick to low doses of benzo when they are needed, I don't personally see much value in mixing amps with benzo's, except maybe Diazepam which gives me euphoria, albeit at what I consider a really high dose - 80mg - so I've never tried it.

You do a lot better than me, one time back when i was prescribed adderall i ate 1/4 of my script (seven 15mg IRs) lol
