**** Beneath the Mirror Ball. Comments ****

The Mystikal DFC beads are now famous.. and my lil ghost bell.. Aww.. i'm so proud right now.
Didn't get anything I said tho.. *pouts* was feeling very succinct that day in the park with Tars.
When I was pouring the water.. could you tell I was absolutely speeding off my balls? Had to hold it in so hard.. my oh my.
*chews chewie furiously*
Was rather happy with it overall. it's definitely a step in the right direction and Lin came across as very genuinely interested in getting a broad overview of the scene as a whole.. but I agree with the disagreements about 'too much politics' and 'not enough music'
yay for the non mainstream media, huh?

*Boing, Bounce, shuffle, Bounce Boing!*

Overall thumbs up. Ditto all your comments...and fark yeah what about the music and delving more into that?

icantfeelmylegs, blue kitten, and I crapped on quite a bit about the music while we were in bris, and they actually filmed me making some music and talking about it...
It didn't get included tho obviously...
As well as all the dancing we did up in Bryon too... So there was plenty of music and dancing available, it just wasn't used...

is it just me, or did they neglect to mention *trance* music in the little "sub-genre" section? i should watch it again, but umm.... am i right?
if so, how did they miss it? i woulda thought trance has a bigger following that drum'n'bass (no offense to DNB fans), especially given the tendency for trance to overlap into "mainstream" clubs. hmmm....
ah well...

Hehehe you did the family proud Tars. Mum and Dad will be soo happy.

Nothing really more i can add, thats what you get for sleeping all day and not posting online.
But overall i thought it was fair. Like was said, could of gone on for much longer, but with the time they had i thought they covered it well, apart from the political side of things. It has its place, but not that big a part of our scene is politically based.
Oh well, its done now.

Tru apples. I agree about the Kelly chick. Still.. what a nutter.
the reason they didn't talk more abot the music dj's and producers is because the "drug" element still is a controversial matter. Hence more viewers. It was only 45minutes, you couldnt have recieved a balanced overview of all of those things in that short a space of time.
So maybe someone should write a letter, to say how decent we thought it was, point out the flaws (like Kelly.. lol
wink.gif
j/k).. then maybe suggest that they turn it into a series, with each episode concentrating on one larger aspect of dance culture in Australia, then they could cover it all! and they'd ask me to produce it!
woohoo!

I agree with pretty much all that has been said. I however like what was said about who xtc users are. I think it was very well said.
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DR LIBBY TOPP, NATIONAL CO-ORDINATOR, ILLICIT DRUG REPORTING SURVEY: They're likely to be relatively well-educated, so almost all ecstasy users have done at least Year 12 or are currently completing their school studies. They're likely to be employed or engaged in full-time studies. They've got very little contact with social authorities.
So, compared to, say, a heroin user, they're not showing up for treatment, they're not being arrested and showing up in court, they're not going to hospital, they're not showing up in the morgue. So it's quite a different sort of group to your typical stereotype drug user in that they're relatively well-functioning. Basically, you'd have to be honest and say they're normal people. They're your brother or your son or your cousin. They're people that you know.

We were actually a bit concerned about ICFML on the way from the Gold Coast to Byron.... i don't think he stopped talking once, due to him wizzing off his head

hehehe
It was all good in the end tho

Bass Junky -- The chick in the green two piece.. oh my god! wore out the rewind button!!
Not enough melbourne stuff for my liking, pissed me off watching all the crap dancing. Did get existed when i got a glimps of the POW though.

One point i'd like to mention is that Dr Libby Topp (rockin doc IOHO
smile.gif
) also stated that not all ecstacy users are ravers...which in our case is true
...disappointed that they didn't mention that not all ravers are ecstacy users...which is also the case...
oh well, you can't have it all.

Overall it was put together pretty well. something positive bout this whole 'scene', which is good to see!
"man, the police stole the keys, our combi has been raped!": Muhahahahahaha!
Kelly: ggrrrrrrrr!
Nice work Tarsy, Cammac, Johnboy, ICFML, BK and horsey's arm! i'm so proud of you kids!
*wipes away tears*
Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't we also have Cowboy Mac's voice in there? he was saying something to horsey while he was testing a pill?
can i have ur autograph since u r all famous now? plz?
good stuff.

...and that's why i fly on my own now! No one to impress, depress, out best or digest.

Well, I'm just going to repeat what everyone else has said, so here goes.
That "Kelly" girl shitted the hell out of me. The shit she was spinning at the start and the bad come-down at the end was not for the cameras. I felt sorry for the guy with her trying to cover up for her!!!
Bit too much politics. The drugs were represented fairly though. Well done JB and Enlighten
smile.gif

Another gripe: Who was that IDIOT kid with the CDs and crappy mixer on his bedroom floor??? That's not a DJ!!!
smile.gif

Tars: You should have told me and I would have showed them how a REAL DJ mixes!
wink.gif

Overall, I was quite happy with it. It was quite fair. Well done to all those involved

I can't believe u guys haven't mentioned my bluelight plug! That was my favourite part!!
I've only just got back from Perth (it kicked ass - got 3 free industry tix to Sonik, went ballistic, had a mad weekend!!) but the bad thing was the doco was shown in Melbourne 2 hours b4 I saw it, and I got a million sms & phone calls giving the whole thing away!
One thing tho guys, SERIOUSLY, don't go and say that kinda shit on national TV unless you have amazingly cool parents and you are prepared to take the repurcussions. My parents flipped out, my Dad still isn't talking to me, but I've just written the olds an enormous letter to try and explain my actions.
It's typed out in word, so if you guys want to see what I've said, let me know and I'll post it up
smile.gif

Oh yeah, RushingRocco, was that the Australia Day BBQ in Templestowe???
wink.gif

I think of my life as a series of sketches; each one funnier than the last

Dan: I did tell you! You weren't available when they were filming me tho...
Cam: I actually told my parents all about it before they saw it because I knew they'd watch it and I knew they'd freak out (well my mum really, not my dad) if they saw it (which they would have) and I hadn't told em...
I wouldn't mind seeing the letter, but you can email it to me unless you're really keen on posting it...
I also read on the online forum on the ABC site that Kelly got a call from her parents asking if she'd been taking E's...
So yeah, you have to be prepared for these things... Like I said on the show tho, I couldn't give a shit what people think... I guess I'm lucky that I can get away with that tho...

DD: i think they wanted to emphasise the amateur aspect of the "scene" and quite clearly, he was a real hack amateur (and having you on the show would not show "amateur" hehe) :)

Good article, well presented, congrats to ICFML and Tarsy and BK's suprise appearance - i hope your parents don't watch 4-Corners!
my only comments relate to this ridiculousness of comments made by 2 brisbane people interviewed, namely a person whose name rhymes with truss, and his lovely chiccy.
what the fuck, "i only take 'drugs' to keep me dancing", and "at the end of the night everyone is looking down, trying not to make eye contact".
firstly, i think anyone who makes comments like that needs to re-examine the reason behind taking drugs, i know i do it because it is soooo damn pleasureable. MDMA is grouse, and good old speed and cola - keep me rolling! i do not agree with the generalisation made here.
Secondly, as this person and everyone else is chilling down, not making eye contact, and scattering, why aren't they going to recoveries!!!!! dammit!!!
overall a well represented feature, however the political side of it was very interesting and i was unaware of this movement from our so-called 'sub-culture'.
the only frightening thing i found was the discussiong about the term 'dealer'....... "it could be your daughter, son, etc., there is no 'drug dealer' as such anymore...." watch this one kids, interesting comments........

It's perfectly sane to be confused......

The show was alright, I didn't like the person talking. their accent and frequent use of the word Punter was shitting me! But I'm not that tolerant...Would've been better if they concentrated on the happy shufflers rather than the angry S11 peoples...
Definitely not enough of Melbourne footage! the places they went to showed people either jumping or just standing there all decked out... NOT ENOUGH SHUFFLIN!!!!
None of these posts would be complete without mentioning that 'thing' in green! ddaaaaaayyyyym!! As tarty and token ravy shit that she was wearing, we can't escape the fact that she was hot!! that's enough from me...

hey cammac...would love to know what you said to your parents, as i have a big problem with my folks. they basically know i use druuugz and keep asking me to explain to them why and make them understand. i thought about writting a letter heaps of times, but couldnt really figure out all the good things to say and convince them that its not so bad...
would be much appreciated if you would post it (if you want/can) or even maybe email it to me...!!!
as i said to tars, all of you were very brave for standing up for the rest of us, especially on national TV. thank you!
