Does it have pleasant effects for you at least some of the time?

I want this to be a Yes/No poll.

I took 325mg a coule hours ago and it made me feel better and didn't even put me to sleep. This might have something to do with the fact that I'm taking 4 dopamine blockers and Abilify.

It does at theraputic doses ( 25-100mg ) for things like sleep and histamine release. Higher doses aren't even remotely pleasant in any way shape or form to me.

The high-dose hallucinations are scary and take a lot of focus to not lose your mind/go delirious during. The body jolts are unpleasant to say the least.

Not very abuseable, unless you're so fucking done with life that you'd rather be dysphoric than sober.

Been there, never going back.

Low dose is useful, but never fun in the euphoric sense.

I've tried doses ranging from 25 mg all the way up until around 600mg.

Lower doses producing a mild sedation, making it easier to sleep. Also great in combating histamine relase from high doses of codeine P.O. or morphine IV.

mid-range doses to me are disorienting and unpleasent, and i can't sleep.

high doses produced full on delierium. Hallucinations ( not like any tryps or PEAs, i mean full on can't tell reality from the hallucinations ) very dysphoric. I can't really pin point down many more side effects from the high doses as it's been awhile, all i remember is that it felt toxic and i couldn't distinguish reality from the hallucinations.

I had a similar experience at 600mg once (the other time I just went to sleep).

Yeah, from what i remember ( this was around the time i was 15 ) is that it would be sedating for about the first 10 minutes, and after that i was unable to sleep.

* shrugs * dunno why that is.

Honestly Benedryl was the first pill I ever tried to get high on, back in the day before I had ever even heard of some of the stuff now. It was fun the first time or two that I did it. But after that it just made me extremely delirious and freak out. Not only that but it made my eyes bug out for about 8 hours and gave me a terrible head ache.

Edit: The doses I took ranged anywhere from 200 to 500mg.

DPH has a tendency to feel bad for almost everyone, but for me when I'm laying down comfortably in a warm room I can feel pretty good and very relaxed, and I can just stare at a wall and enjoy seeing random objects appear. I guess thats what keeps me coming back to this truly bizarre drug.

Update: I just found out that the pills I took were 50mg, not 25mg so I took twice as much as I thought 3 times recently (they were the same size as 25mg pills however). Be careful that you have the right pill strength.

I just took 100mg to try to get my teeth chattering under control. :X

100mg doesn't cause delirium. Anticholinergic drugs help with side effects of antipsychotics. I only got delirium when I took the additional 350mg after taking 650mg about 2 hours before.

I ended up taking 400mg within the past 2 hours today and have stayed awake (it must be the 200mg of Prozac I took yesterday).

Would Symmetrel or Mirapex help control mouth/jaw movements and teeth chattering??

100mg is the top dose recommended when used for sleep in most countries, in the us the highest recommended dose as a sleep aid is 50mg. I just find it funny that you're using it at these levels to help with problems that usually are controlled at the 25-50mg level, as that's usually what is needed for it's sedative and anxiolytic properties. Diphenhydramine loses it's effectiveness pretty quickly, in some studies just three days before needing to double the dose for the same degree of effectiveness, topping out at this 100mg ceiling dose for medical uses. Maybe your history of abuse of this drug has something to do with it? I don't know, but I generally think abusing anticholinergic antihistamines in high doses is pretty stupid.

Maybe some of the medicines I'm on make it so not as much gets absorbed or something.

Yes.
I do enjoy poisoning myself with atropine from time to time. It is not healthy, but is a unique high that no other drug gives. Also, it enhances the music appreciation in a unique style.
I do 250mg doses like 2 times per month. Aside from tripping with Diphenhydramine, I take 50mg almost every day to help me fall asleep, and usually it works wonderful.

I wouldn't ever take benadryl for a buzz but I love it for sleep. So in that way I like it. IMO it's the best otc sleep aid and cheaper than tylenol/advil PM. Tolerance does build up, I used to just take 25mgs now I have to take 75-125mgs to sleep. But god damn 325mgs? I have a feeling that it would be quite yucky at anything above 150mgs. different strokes.

edit: oh yeah, I've read on bluelight that it increases the intensity of orgasms. IME I don't last very long on benadryl so i think it's probably true.

I take it regularily in doses up to 175mg at a time, to take the edge off my anxiety. I have taken it in the past to get fucked up and yeah, it was unpleasant, had a body load, but after I got used to the body load, I actually enjoyed it. 175mg doesn't put me to sleep anymore, just makes me kinda zoned out and my memory is shot. It's a nice combo in low doses with dxm. Most people don't enjoy it but oddly enough, I do. Tolerance builds though, which is why the amounts I take multiple times a day don't put me to sleep.
