Benadryl Trip - First delirium experience

I have read many reports about benadryl and datura and the types of effects.

I have always found it hard too beleive when people say they talk too people or see things that arent there . Untell now
This is probabley because I have olny done traditional hallucinogens sutch as LSD , NBOME, shrooms , 2ce , 2ct2 , 2cp etc

Those hallucinations are always patterning/morphing/moving/introspective types of trips

I have taken DPH one time prior at 400mg and i had fallen asleep before the trip.

I am 160 lbs



This time i ingested 550 mg , It was a pretty intence experience with a good taste of delerium ( glad i did not take any more )

I down all of the benadryl pills (olny active ingredient),
40 mins later music sounds better , relaxed feeling

approx 1 hour in i can see patterning all over my vision , THE HALLUCINATIONS IN THIS TRIP WERE ALL BLACK AND WHITE NO COLOR !!!

The hallucinations would react with the music ( kind of freaked me out at first )

After a while very slight nausea , i go lay in my bed with the lights off too better see the visual effects ,


The first thing i saw was faces coming through the patterning , and ears , no specific face but the images were so detailed almost better
quality than a black and white photograph ,

I attempt too go to the washroom and i dont know wich way is my door , i am lost in this black room stumbling around drunken hallucinating trying too find my door ,

once i had some light i was good too go ,

once back in my bed i kept seeing my dog that lives with me , i would keep calling him over but he wouldent come ,

i would reach over too grab him and my hand would just go through him , wich kinda scared me , i realized it was an illusion
i was blown aaway how realistic the hallucinations were , absolutley mind blowing

And i would lay there and i kept thinking i was falling asleep smoking , I think i was experienceing the "PHANTOM CIGARETE EFFECT" from dph
I have never heard other people say they experienced that , but i definatley did .


I have a totally new respect for DATURA and DPH .

Is PCP , 3-MEO-PCP hallucinations just like DPH?? are they simmilar in any way?

Nice. Always wanted to try Benedryll for its delirium, even though I heard for most people its very unpleasant lol. I'm a big fan of DXM however and I LOVE the visuals I get from it. Sounds interesting kinda reminds me of some Crystal hallucinations when you start to lose it couple days in with no sleep haha. Seems cool maybe a slight lower dose though for me.

Hi Dylan, welcome to BDD. I'm glad you had an interesting time taking diphenhydramine; you need to be careful with deliriants, they can cause very realistic and sometimes terrifying hallucinations. There are some interesting trip reports on Erowid I suggest you take a look at.

Siccy, I would imagine the hallucinations could be similar to being up for days on a stimulant, as that situation has many similarities with a delirious state..

I wouldn't imagine the hallucinations are similar to PCP and 3-MeO-PCP as they are primarily dissociatives where as diphenhydramine is a deliriant. Dissociatives are covered by Psychedelic Drugs, so I suggest you take a look in there - there's a PCP megathread here and a 3-MeO-PCP one here.
