Opioids Being safe with opiates

Guess I shouldn't have asked :'(

I wouldnt call myself addicted but I crave. No more then I crave the occasional rolled dutch or six pack before bed lol though.

It's a good thing that you did ask bro, you had a legitimate question and we answered it from our life experiences. As for the cravings, it all depends on what you do with the cravings that will answer wether or not you will eventually get addicted. Hell I crave a McDonalds double quarter pounder a few times a week, but I don't always act on the craving because I know how unhealthy it is. Sure every now and again I will indulge, but having enough sense to say 'not today' is what helps prevents health problems. Same thing holds true with opiates.

Two words: Reward System.

Keep that in check and you'll be good to go. As humans, our bodies are trained to release dopamine and other 'feel goods' as a reward when you do something you know you should. When we mess with drugs, not only do we mess with those chemicals, but we also mess with our reward systems, and our brains eventually stop thinking they need to work or complete tasks to get a reward. That's where intense cravings set in. if we give in to temptation and cravings any time we want them, without disciplining ourselves, we VERY quickly start to think like spoiled little children and it takes over FAST.

If I give myself opiates any time I want them, I will eventually get used to feeling great, at any time, whenever I want, without much effort at all, which will result in psychological addiction. Now, because I sort of ignored that a little over the past few months, now I find it very hard to convince myself to go do other non-drug related activities to make myself happy, sort of like my brain saying "I don't wanna!!!!" in the same manner a spoiled little brat would.

Same with weed. I smoke every day, and used to all day. Any time I would get bored, i'd load a bowl. Long boring days would turn into bowl after bowl after bowl after bowl until I was putting away an 8th a day. I have begun smoking less and less, and also not allowing myself to smoke until I have completed the day's tasks/responsibilities.

Self discipline is the name of the game! If we can all learn a good self disciplinary method that works for ourselves, we can enjoy these wonderful substances the earth has given us with little risk. It also helps to know that learning to maintain your reward system spills over to other aspects of your life and can/will improve your life and make you a better person. no one likes a spoiled brat!! :)

After 8 days since my last use I can say I don't even have that psychological craving anymore, can't even relate to exactly what it feels like other then bliss.

I'de have to jump through some major moral hurdles before I ever shoot H... Ive controlled opiates fine for a couple years and now I am at a point where I dont care for them. Its a cycle... I am also short on $$$ so that helps. I think my best advice would be aside from stay on a strict schedule, only take them when you NEED the buzz, not just for the hell of it because it feels good. Only when life is shitty enough haha.

^ I wish ya the best Whippa, you know your body better than anyone so if you have a method that works for you and helps you stay in control then go with it.

Opiates are so addictive, I have no problems with admitting that I will most likely end up an opiate addict should I get access to a steady supply (I love opiates, and both my parents were opiate addicts). Rationalizing is natural, but I've seen opiate addiction up close, and opiates make the addiction feel worthwile to the addict. Opiate addiction is unlike others, not downplaying other addictions, but opiate addiction is very unique, and easy to fall into. The guilt or will to stop using is easily taken away with the next dose. Now, of course there are opiate users who aren't addicts, but a lot are. Just know that.

TBH if it werent for situations in my life preventing my use of opiates I would use them until addicted (maybe hopelessly). Theyre fun. I thank god for a good head on my shoulders and plenty of other drugs to use in between my pills to stay addict-free :)

I think it should be the other way around. You should never NEED a buzz. If you NEED a buzz, you're an addict. I feel like opiates, along with beer, weed, psychedelics, and any other recreational substance (as in a substance you're purely taking for the purpose of intoxication) should be exactly that, RECREATIONAL. Obviously this does not apply if you are prescribed meds by a doctor and you take them as directed, which in that case you don't take them for a buzz. If you NEED to chill out, had a hard day, whatever, and have a hard time chilling out naturally, you should see a doctor and maybe get prescribed a benzo for this situation. That way, you can properly address that scenario with proper meds at proper dosages, and chances are you won't get addicted if you follow the rules.

Once you start taking recreational drugs because you feel like you NEED them, no matter what the circumstances, you are an addict.

The biggest issue is the fact that if you get used to falling back on drugs whenever a hard day hits you, what happens when you run out of drugs and have a hard day? You may think it's no big deal now, but once you start falling back on drugs to fix your hard days, it becomes nearly impossible to deal with this shit on your own. Drugs are powerful things man, don't underestimate them. :)
