Being prescribed Adderall placebo pills?

I'm inquiring as to the rights/powers of a psychiatric doctor and if he/she can prescribe placebo pills at random?

Basically I've been taking adderall for a long while - I went to jail for a traffic charge for about 25 days. When i got out I just got my script filled and then went for one of my first UA's. I have a card that basically tells the officer that gives the UA that Amphetamines may be in my system and that I can be taking them. This last time i gave my UA i had taken an adderall 2 hours before i went in. When i gave my UA i was informed it wasn't necessary to present my card because i was negative for every substance..

Another alarming factor - I didnt have anything to drink with me an hour ago, so i took a pill and let it dissolve, but it tasted totally strange. More bitter than sweet and it didnt seem as dense (dissolved faster too). Is there a way to tell without getting chemicals out to test it? There would be no end to the anger i would have if i spent an hour playing 'chemist' on a sugar pill. The thought of that makes my hairs stand on end.

I paid my co-pay and filled the adderall where i have been for years. Any help would be great.

I have seen other people ask this same question.....idk what to really think of it, but one thing you could do is ask for another brand. Maybe Barr is having quality control issues or something.....but highly unlikely.

Doctors are absolutely not allowed to prescribe you a placebo under the guise of something else. It is completely unethical and not something doctors can do..

What some doctors will sometimes do is prescribe something which they don't really believe will make a difference on the merit of the drug alone, but which they hope will have some benefit via the placebo effect.. this is completely different to prescribing a specific medication and you just getting sugar-pills. They can't decieve you about what they are giving you, but some doctors do sometimes hide the reason for prescribing it.

We don't allow drugs-test questions here so I'm afraid we can't speculate about that side of things, but I can assure you that your doctor cannot be prescribing you a placebo and saying that it is Adderall. Also, drugs manufacturers don't make pills without active ingredients in to be sold to the public, so your pharmacist wouldn't be able to dispense you Adderall without any amphetamine in.

Thank you for the clarification, thats good to know. I'm not sure whats going on with me then. They just don't seem to work the same anymore. Barr labs is a good generic too. The only other logical explanation is tolerance to the amphetamines. I'm going to see if i can get on Ritalin. I hear good things about it and its better that i don't posses a controlled substance to the caliber of amphetamines anyway.
