Obviously you still want to get high on opiates and the only good way to do that is reducing your methadone dosage.
I don't know what your previous habit was like prior to getting on the 'done but in my experience 170mgs is over the top. The highest I ever gotten up to was 80-100mgs and that was sufficient to stabilize my body on methadone during my days of extreme dope habits.
Just curious, were you increasing your methadone dose to try and achieve a 'high'. Everybody on the program does it and I think most ppl are overmedicated while on methadone, its really a double edge sword because your basically just fucking yourself with a dose that high.
Have you ever tried to drop a significant amount (say 170mg down to 100mgs) in a 3 day period. I always found that dropping my dose when I was on a high level of 'done not to horrible, its when you start to get under 50mgs is when it really starts to hurt. For myself 60mgs was a holding dose for me where I still could break-thru and get high on heroin and still get the benefits that methadone provides.
I am sure if you dropped 30mgs one day, 20mgs the next, and 20mgs on the third day it would only take the remaining 4 days out of the week for your body to start to adjust to the new dose. Of course one would use heroin to ease any w/d experienced from the 'done. Personally using heroin to lower my methadone (prior experience) dosage is the only way to go and its really not to hard if you medicate yourself as needed.
Do you still get any effects from your daily meth dose other than it holding back and of the dope sickness at bay?
Meth can be fun at first but staying on high doses of it will just cause you to end up fucking yourself in the ass (w/ no lube) in the long run. I know its a bitch to reduce your dose but if you still want to have fun with other opiates its the only choice. If you want to stay clean off opiates methadone is practical, I just have never been a fan of methadone maintenance it does an excellent job doing. IMO methadone is best used in short detoxes or maintenance programs. I was stuck on that bullshit for over 2 years and in the long-run all it did for me was get me back on heroin. For some people long-term/high dosing of methadone is the only route and most of those ppl tend to be lifers (which is fine whatever works, right?). I have a few friends that are pushing the 9-year mark on methadone maintenance and they really have no plans to try and get off it.
IMO if you are going to have a opiate habit have one that you can enjoy (i.e. heroin). After awhile drinking your daily meth is basically like just taking a shot of water each morning and does nothing but replace a euphoric heroin habit with a methadone habit that lacks any high, but packs a knock-out punch if you happen to miss a dose.
Do be careful as you become acustom do your tolerence to methadone because it can be deadily. I had a childhood friend OD and die from just a 100mg dose (with out benzos, supposedly according to toxicology reports), this kid was a H head for years and was on 'done for 6 months when BOOM one morning his girlfriend found him stiff and blue in the morning. ANother friend OD and died off a small amount of meth (30mgs) and a couple bags of heroin. I know tolerence can make people overly confident and can have dire results. It can have strange effects
Im just rambling...
