Beginner to Psychedelics

Hey guys, I'm becoming increasingly more interested in trying psychedelics but I'm not sure where to start.

I haven't done any psychedelics before (unless you count cannabis as a psychedelic, which i don't)and I'm wondering what i should take first to get me adjusted to them. I'm a happy person and am in good physical condition.

I'm not sure if I have access to LSD(will have to check sources, but i doubt if i can get my hands on it) so other suggestions would be welcomed.

Was thinking maybe some shrooms or a 2cd plateau dose of DXM. On a different side, i was thinking maybe a dose of smoked DMT or Salvia to dive in fast, but I'm pretty sure that's not the way to do it. Thanks in advance for your time.

From experience and just overall knowledge, salvia or DMT are NOT good ways to introduce yourself to them. DXM is a good starter, but it's a dissociate, not an actual psychedelic, eventhough it does give you that weird mind set, some visuals (2nd plateau trip), etc. The first one I tried was mushrooms, and I loved them. Went into the trip with a great mindset and it was pure bliss. I'd suggest mushrooms just from experience, but if you're only able to get LSD, then go for it. Just make sure you start very low, and having a trip sitter is never a bad idea (if they're willing heh). Good luck.

DMT is fine for a first experience. Remember, you can smoke a little rather than as much as you can possibly handle. Salvia I would probably not recommend as it's a lot more hit and miss.

Personally I'd say eat some cactus, it's easy to get and mescaline is a great introductory imo.

SpanoonapS?

i think mushrooms was my 1st,

as long as you dose comfortably you could prob be ok with mushrooms, cacti, lsd, dmt whatever really.

i would guess most peoples first psych is just the easiest one to get a hold of

Welcome to BL...............................if this isnt SpanoonapS ;)

I'm a happy person

Wow you are so lucky :p <3

I wouldn't recommend any psychedelic over another for a beginner. Just take a low dose, and read a lot beforehand. Well, that sort of excludes very exotic untested compounds, but there is information and trip reports on most of those that are readily available.

Btw my first was LSD and that went along fine, though I could have taken a lower dose to get the feel.

If pushed I'd probably recommend MDMA -> cactus -> mushrooms/gentle tryptamine RC.

MDMA gets you used to the general 'drugfucked' feeling and is pretty much a guaranteed good time. Cactus will take a lot of preparation and willpower to drink which will give you plenty of time to think through and make sure you plan the situation well. And I always felt that the 'wow, nature did this' revelation when I came up off shrooms for the first time was an important moment of wonder.

agreed. cactus is perfect. i cant imagine a bad time on that. DMT would be neat cuz if it was a breakthrough doe you'd be prepared for alot of other psychedelics; although thats the only one that acts like that.

eat a cactus, then move to tryptamines.

Cactus or mushrooms probably. Mesc is a great starter psych, but mushrooms were first for me. They are a very guiding, if occasionally confusing substance :)

Don't do salvia or DMT breakthrough first time, please. Low dose is another story. High doses of weed can give you a general idea if you want a feel for it first. If you have already done that, the transition to lower doses of psychedelics (I'd recommend mescaline, then shrooms, then acid last) could be considerably less likely to be overwhelming. Low-moderate dose is absolutely crucial, trust me.

My first experience was 2nd plateau experience with DXM as well. It went excellently and I don't see a very high potential for bad trips or the like at that dose at all. It's all about experience when it comes to raising dose and experimenting with others. Low dose dissociatives are great too - most prefer ketamine first, DXM second, PCP last in general (I wouldn't really recommend PCP at all) if your interest is drastic alteration in consciousness in general, dissociatives aren't really as different as people make it out to be in my opinion, they just have a different distinctiveness.

This is just in regards to mainstream drugs.

I don't recommend salvia. It's not very similar to the serotonergic psychedelics (e.g., pretty much all the rest of them), a lot of people find it difficult or unpleasant, it's very inconsistent especially with dried extracts of wildly varying actual potency... Something to maybe investigate later, but not a good starting point if you want to experience psychedelics.

Low dose DXM is all well and good, but it's also not a serotonergic psychedelic. If you want to experience second plateau DXM, go for it. If you want to experience a 'true' psychedelic, DXM won't really give you much of a taste of what to expect.

Mushrooms are a common starting point and work well enough for that - they're not super long lasting, and beyond some bodyload/nausea, physical reactions are usually pretty tame. They can be pretty intense as far as the trip itself goes, so don't overdo it with the dose and be prepared for a wild ride, but most people I know have pretty good intros to tripping via 2-3g of mushrooms.

LSD is a good place to start, provided the long duration doesn't scare you away. A lot of people find it smoother/less difficult in general than mushrooms, more of an objective/analytic feel as opposed to the sometimes wildly swinging thoughts and emotions of a mushroom trip.

DMT is an amazing compound. I don't necessarily think it's a *bad* place to start but you may enjoy it more after having 'dipped your feet in the water', so to speak, with a less intense but longer lasting psychedelic experience. It's intense and amazing enough going from sobriety to the equivalent of a high dose psychedelic peak almost instantly, which is what low-mid dose (pre-breakthrough) DMT feels like to many people; I can't imagine doing that never having *had* a high dose psychedelic peak before! I didn't personally begin experimenting with DMT till well after having tried many other psychedelics, but I've never found it too difficult or unpleasant - the 'worst' parts are the anxiety before dosing and sometimes the initial physical rush of a mid dose can be mildly unpleasant.

The Big & Dandy Beginner Psychedelic Thread - may be of some assistance and interest. May also get a bit of merge action with this thread if the whim takes someone too.

"What should I take?" threads are not really allowed but that seems to be kinda relaxed with first-timer stuff recently... I have no particular recommendations myself - something to be said for and against all the options - but acid was my first which is just dandy by me :)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I gotta admit i was expected to be flamed a little; use the search feature, no what should i take threads allowed blah blah blah. I guess you guys are nicer then i thought :)

I would recommend mushrooms or DMT. They are teacher compounds, so if your attitude is humble when you approach them, they'll be kind. :)

Just one piece of advice:

Try to rid yourself of pre-conceived notions about psychedelics and what they do. Its dissimilar to every description you'll hear because it can't be translated into language very well, so just go with the flow and let it happen. :) <3

Yah I'll definitely echo this.

DMT isn't a bad place to jump in to psychedelia, but part of the DMT magick is the realization that it takes you immediately to the depths of the place that other psychedelics merely skim the surface of. Which is one hell of a profound realization. :D

But DMT will *NOT* do you wrong. It is the most natural-feeling psychedelic, despite its intensity. Dealing with DMT is as natural to your body as dealing with sugars-- the body doesn't feel strange or out-of-order in any way, it just metabolizes the DMT in a few minutes and everything's cool. That's always been comforting to me, because I can literally feel what a benign substance DMT is-- my body reacts only positively to it. Even my beloved LSD feels a bit rough around the edges at times, but DMT has always been as smooth as a pretty lady's backside.

My first psychedelic experience was with a low dose of LSD, and I think that was the perfect introduction for me, because it wasn't too hard to handle. From (not very much) personal experience, I find LSD easier to handle and more comfortable than mushrooms. Mushrooms seem less forgiving. But I would recommend either mushrooms or LSD for you first time.

Psychedelics are a great thing that will definitely have some impact on your life if you are interested in them.

I suggest starting out with LSD, try it with a group of friends, and go from there.

LSD is my number one recommendation.. :)
shrooms are a very close second - i appreciate a good mushroom trip just as much as acid.. mushrooms for a first trip would be great.. anywhere from 1.5g to 3g for a first timer.. or 1 - 2 doses of acid - 2 - 3 if they are known to be weak tabs..
i have never had DMT.. never talked to anyone with access to it.. i did have 5-meo-dmt, but that is quite different i gather.. i have a feeling one would have an easier time finding LSD than true DMT...
good job doing your homework and finding BL.. :) have you been reading at www.erowid.org?

Personally, I would suggest a low to moderate dose of shrooms (1.8g-3.7g) for a first experience, or, if you can get it, two or more "strong" hits of LSD; strength is really just word of mouth, so there's no guarantee that what your buying is actually going to be strong (I always eat 3+ hits, no matter how strong it's said to be). I'd save DMT and salvia until you're a bit more experienced, and just skip the DXM altogether (though that's just my opinion). Salvia, is not a necessarily strong nor enjoyable experience, so I don't think it'd be a good first look into psychedelics; DMT on the other hand is extremely strong, quite hard to judge how much you're getting (for first timers, at least), and tastes absolutely terrible (again, at least for first timers). Good luck and enjoy! :D

I'd go with shrooms. That was my first "real drug". They definitely give you a go taste of what psychedelics are all about. Mushrooms are pretty intense, but not overwhemily so, but maybe that's just me as I've never found any psychadelic to be super overwhelming. Maybe it's time I pushed my limits a bit farther. Good luck with whatever you go with.
