Beer, Nothing and Electrical Fires

I refuted the claims, they would throw at me,
Rejecting every single theory that was suggesting,
That what has already been placed into motion,
Can actually be made to come to a complete stop.

You were an old, iron block
A turbo diesel, quad cylinder,
Manual transmission or some such,
A distinct and working run away truck,
Front and rear brake lines, cleanly cut.
But there was to be just a little accident,
Insurance is what pays for the times,
When we inevitably fuck up.

I should've given up on you,
Right there and then,
Looking back upon it now,
Of course though, I never could,
And I still never would,
Let you freeze out there, on your own.
All alone.

There stirs an overbearing fog like darkness,
That lurks not far from here,
I hope that you are robbed a pinch of sleep,
From every time you rest,
Leaving you short on numbers to count,
And confused as to the type of currency amount.

My belt is loosened,
And I drink a lukewarm beer,
Nothing.

And nothing, dare I say,
I have nothing in which I fear,
Nothing.
As I stand here,
And I can see nothing,
I notice off in the distance..

Nothing.
And it's coming my way.

So I guess it's true that drinking warm beer is common in the land down-under? ;) The language and imagery is coherent and it reads like a complete story. I'm glad the title drew me in for a read
