Been put on repeat prescription by accident?

Hi there,

I went to the doctors today to get some zopiclones because I've been having a rough time sleeping lately.

She also printed out by accident a repeat prescription of all my past medications including diazepam and zopiclone.. I'm curious if I can get in trouble for collecting these on repeat when they were put on by accident?

I'm due to pick up the diazepam on Thursday, if I were to keep on doing this would it be flagged or anything? I don't plan on taking them regularly, just when needed as I go through phases of anxiety and insomnia.

I live in the UK so I'd be grateful of any information regarding this.

As long as you don't have a contract that states you can only fill your prescriptions at a single pharmacy, such as a pain management contract, you shouldn't have trouble or get in trouble filling them. Just be careful, as having those extra meds around can indeed be tempting, but if you're confident you can use them as needed and in a responsible manner, you shouldn't have any trouble with this logistically except perhaps with your insurance, who will generally not cover medications until it is time to refill. So depending on where you live and what you have, you may have to pay cash for them.

The worst that can happen is your doc will notice and not issue the prescription. Just play dumb if they say anything, as it was on repeat you thought that was what they intended.

You cannot get into trouble for having your prescription completed - I would continue to have it filled by the chemist until your doctor changes it. Try not to abuse these new found pills and save them for when necessary. Zopiclone is strange drug and if I'm taking it I have to already be in bed :D.

use different pharmacies, and pay out of pocket if your insurance already covered any of those meds already this month

If you live in non-England UK you have the added bonus of getting all these for free! It happened to me a year or so ago, got codeine 100x30mg on repeat by mistake for nearly a year. My proper GP stopped them but nicely, and only after checking I didn't need them (and I felt too embarrassed to even attempt to say yes). I thought about 1000 codeine was a good run.

There is no need to use a different pharmacy for a legit script and doing so would look suspicious. I would just use your normal pharmacy as you have been doing for the zopiclone, it really should not raise any questions as both for sleep.
