Been on benzos for over a month now.

This is a very good question.

OP, you should find a new doctor (although you may not want to;)) if the doctor you are seeing now prescribed those doses to start off.

Can you clarify if there is more to the story?

Doctor wanted to start out with an aggressive dose to quell my anxiety almost completely. (which it did)

Agressive is like 3 mgs of xanax a day. All he did was make your tolerance higher. I am sure that 3mgs of xanax a day would have kept you from experiencing any anxiety. Now that you are used to such a high dose, it will make lower doses seem less effective.... atleast at first.

I still suggest finding a new doctor. Any doctor that would start a patient out on that many benzos is out of their mind, or just looking to make you become dependent and come back.

My thoughts exactly.

Starting at such high doses is just going to immediately skyrocket your tolerance. Soon enough your tolerance is going to increase, as it always does with benzodiazepines, one of the very reasons why your started off at lower doses. I mean, the maximum daily dose for alprazolam is 6mg and then your also on Clonazepam.

I know it doesn't pertain to your original question but I'm just curious as to why a doctor would do such a thing, but you on a higher than maximum daily dose of benzodiazepines immediately.
