Dr. Weed Pimp must have a special treatment. Ie double post for every single post he makes.
 
atm: I got a tiny bit, but had to get up to go to the doctors.. diaz is definitely helping now, it was earlier too then it became clear I needed more :P how are you?

WD,Pimp Daddy-all we need to do is school him on how to be an herbal dispenser the proper way.-my slinging days are long gone but this fucker has been steady fucking his biz up for the 10 years we've been friends. he burns too many bridges and has to up and move-so he is gone-to my old stomping ground,and i COULD fuck him over hard,but what goes around comes around. plus he is in for a world o hurt where he is headed,man. he is 35-my age and dates 17 yr olds-he's been seeing this chick for 3 months-moving w/ her and all they do is fight! 3 months should still be let's just fuck time. oh well-i'll reconnect w/ some old friends-this is my home town after all. a way to weed awaits!

im a still new NMI mod who happens to dig the BDD team and am trying to expand my posts back to all of Bl since I have gotten the swing of things as far as Moderating...basically i'm crashing the party! but I do it with LOVE!!! =D

just been wondering, what is the true definition of an opioid/opiate, well more specifically I was chatting with effie about ODT and I am convinced that it is not a true opioid because it is not derived from and natural opiates even though it hits the opiate receptors. I don't feel right calling it a true opiate as I don't believe it is.

Does anyone have a definitive and 100% correct answer? or is the debate still open?
 
I've always read that all things that affect opioid recptors are called opioids; this includes, natural, semi-synthetic, and synthetic analogues.

Opiates are just their natural counterparts.

If you were to look at it like a file path on a computer...it would be like:

Drugs/Analgesics/Opioids/Opiates

Although that probably needs to be changed up a little bit as not all opioids are used in the treatment of pain.
 
opiate - natural alkaloids derived from the opium poppy/papaver somniferum (e.g. morphine and codeine)

opioid - drug that agonizes the opioid receptors (e.g. ODT)

semi-synthetic - opioid synthesized from opiates (e.g. oxycodone)

fully synthetic - opioids not synthesized from opiates (e.g. methadone)
 
Mugz it's not an opiate, we went over this :D it's an opioid as it binds to opioid receptors. Opiates are alkaloids found in opium poppies. Oxycodone, fentanyl etc are opioids, heroin and codeine are opiates.
