BDD Social/Information Booth - (MK. VI) - get some sleep, kids!

Vader, I really like that. You can draw a representation of a 3D cube in 2D, as the 3rd dimension exists but is different to the two.. and we can see a representation of the 4th dimension here but it is somehow different (or higher) than the regular 3. Nice.

Hope everyone is enjoying plummeting through the 4th dimension today :D

The subject of Amanda Knox and her release came up in EADD last night. Well to tell the truth, most of it centred around her apparent sexiness (or lack thereof, if you fall into that camp).

Now leaving aside the heinous crime involved and the disturbing phenomenon of the (largely British) media in fetishising a suspected murderer as a sex object (and let's leave the gender politics aside, though they too played their part), I woke up fully expecting this to appear in RP:

I'm guessing that's because after seeing that there's nothing in the world that looks that delicious, so you see no point in even trying to find something to eat because it will just disappoint you. ;)

edit: I asked this in another thread but no one wants to answer the original question let alone the secondary one so...

"60mg would be an acceptable dose for someone that takes 400mg Tramadol daily and when has the amount to do so will go through 60mg of hydrocodone daily, right?"

60mg hydrocodone = 300mg tramadol on here, but tramadol's a funny one. I'd say you are about right.

That chart says that morphine and hydrocodone are equipotent orally. ime, oral morphine is absolute crap and, though I've never taken hydrocodone, I can't imagine it being that weak, but that's just my uneducated gut feeling.
 
Oh right. Well 60mg hydrocodone = 60mg morphine ;)

I presume you take 100mg tramadol as a single dose? So 60mg morphine is a bit more than that, as 150mg tramadol = 30mg morphine, if you want the dose to be the same as your tramadol dose.

I share your gut feeling but it's not based on any evidence at all seeing as I've never tried hydrocodone.

And Y'all don't have hydrocodone over there in the UK, do you? Y'all got that dihydrocodone crap that's supposed to be just a tad bit stronger then codeine, don't ya? lol

Hydrocodone is 6x as potent as codeine...hence "VI - CODIN"

And my tramadol doesn't take care of pain so I am shooting for a higher dose lol...

My gut feeling was the other way, people on here talk about taking 5 or 10 mg hydro orally, and that much morphine would be imperceptible. The problem with morphine is that the oral bioavailability is really low, you don't actually get much of the dose into your system.
 
Yeah. Oral morphine is just rubbish really..

Doug, we've got dihydrocodeine - it's available in an OTC preparation with APAP or can be prescribed, but prescribing it is a lot less common than it used to be. Docs generally go codeine, tramadol, morphine, *panic* and refer to pain specialist :)
 
Or a fentanyl lollypop!

Fentanyl scares me. I'd rather some oxy any day ;)

I'm both impressed by that fact and a little disappointed.

Impressed because it's so logical yet I'd never once made the connection, and disappointed because it has somewhat damaged my association of the drug in question with the allegedly-marauding (but more often merely trading) seafaring Norsemen of old.
 
The reservoir patches are good because you can chase the gel, which allows you to titrate really easily (as well as get an amazing rush). Those lollies are ridiculous, though; moral outrage at Bart Simpson blotter or pills that look like sweets because it's marketing drugs to kids, but you can put FENTANYL in a lollipop. Bizarre. I've never laid my grimy little mitts on any oxy, but I would also prefer it.
 
^ yeah I always advocate chasing fent if someone is gonna do it, for that very reason. Not so good with the non-reservoir patches though!

They're equianalgesic - most find hydrocodone more recreational orally at equal doses.

5-10mg orally is the starting dose for pain. If someone can get off on those doses, they are either a child or hypersensitive.

I think because most people around here know how low the oral boiavailability is, mentally they stop thinking of that as a viable route and think it's crap but as someone who has used just about everything available in the US to treat chronic pain, it's quite effective. Same with hydromorphone; just because it's much more potent at lower doses via other routes, doesn't mean it doesn't work at appropriately titrated doses orally.

The problem here that I've seen repeatedly is that people get prescribed one of these substances with relatively low oral BA's then convince themselves that snorting, plugging or shooting is WAY more efficient and they'd be silly not to conserve medicine this way then you fast forward 6 months or a year and they're prescribed doses are barely keeping them well for 3 weeks out of the months and they're sick the rest of the time or hitting the street.

More disturbing still, the internet has seemingly not yet plugged the gaping chasm where the Actiq-sucking Lolita-porn should be.

As for fent itself, scary business indeed. Far too enjoyable as well, doubling the danger.

Vader - get yersen some oxy, though that's easier said than done right now (at least for me). I haven't had it in a while but it's a beautiful thing. A very beautiful thing.
