hi,i m tx,i been suffering from schizo for 3 years already(note:i do not have any postive symptom only negative and a little irritablity and impatient wtih people),and had tried tons of antipsychotic and anti depressant and it doesnt work, and i found out that u once mentioned in this forum that medicne like adderall, ritalin or vyvanse works for negative symptom of schizophrenia....may i know what dose do u take??and which type adderall, ritalin or vyvanse??from the symptom i mentioned to u(negative symptom, irritability and impatient with people),do u think i need some mood stabilizer or anti depressant b4 i start taking the amphetamine??

btw do u have any type of instant messenger where i can contact u??please kindly reply me if u have seen this message,i m in pain and suffering right now

i m taking abilify 15mg and also NAC(2.4gram per day)

Who is 'u'? This is a forum, there is no IM. I can't see how any of those medications will affect Schizophrenia is a positive way. Please seek advice from a health professional before you self medicate.

bben is a person who i think successfully treated his negative and cognitive symptom of schizo with amphetamines....i m refering to him,i do not self-medicate,all my medicine is presribed by my doctor,i never self-medicate....

What medications have you tried? High dose quetiapine (seroquel) in combination with sodium valproate (epillem or dapakoate) which is a mood stabiliser has been found to be very effective with delusions and I know a schizophrenic girl who used these to great effect.

I myself have used quetiapine and sodium valproate in combination with escitalopram (lexapro) to stop manic and depressive episodes with my bi-polar or psychotic episodes.

Aripiprazole (abilify) is a partial agonist of dopamine and a third generation anti-psychotic. I myself have never tried that one but am curious to know how you would rate it against the second generation anti-psychotics (also known as atypical) such as risperidone (risperdal), quetiapine (seroquel), olanzapine (zyprexa) There are way more but those are the ones i've tried. Or there is one I haven't taken which is indicated for chronic and acute schizophrenia called Zotepine? Then there are the typical ones which I also haven't tried.

i feel abilify and the rest of the atypical is the same,it doesnt help with my negative symptom, but i would like to try maybe wellbutrin/vyvanse + anti psychotic for my negative symptom, becoz i seen alot of positive review on it,but some say it would cancel the effect out,but well, never try never know~~

I would stick with what your currently taking as instructed by your doctor. Its true that stimulants show some efficacy for the negative symptoms of schizophrenia, but they are reserved for use in stable schizophrenics with a concurrent typical antipsychotic, not atypical. It only offers minor relieve as well.

I would add EPA fish oil and bcm 95 curcumin to your supplement list for schizophrenia as they both have some evidence towards improving schizophrenia.

As far as drugs outside of atypicals there isnt much you can do until new stuff comes out in the next 10 years like glutamate agonists for example. Also i would continue with the NAC it is very good.

If you dont like abilify try a different 2nd generation atypical, i think clozapine is good as it effects negative symptoms through modulating glutmate neurotransmission the nucleus accumbens, which no other antipsychotics do.

Good luck.

bben u tried amp and stopped already??why do u say it offers minor relief??i seen on alot of comment(although not all)it works very well for nega and cog symptom~~

what other supplement r u currently taking bben??beside antipsychotic??

I think acutely amphetamine does do good, but longterm it can aggravate things. Alongside a typical antipsychotic the combo is not bad. Its effect on glutamate is likely what helps.

I take the following:

Buprenorphine/suboxone
tobacco

EPA fish oil
curcumin (bcm 95 forumula)
NAC
Deplin

I tried abilify at one point, thought it was crap.

u do not take any form of antipsychotic??btw what about wellbutrin??have u tried it??
