BBC 3 Thurs 9pm - How ecstasy Works 13/1/2011

the whole documentary was fairly well balanced overall i think. didnt piss me off, the bits where it showed the wraps going into the heart etc were a bit rotten, dont wana see that shit

i hope someone mentions the urge to take a shite when coming up off a pill before the shows over.

Doh couple mistakes there. Blaming E on a death which involved heroin, speed, coke, ket and GHB, of which the latter was described as liquid e/MDMA. Shame.

I personally think that it's very hard to watch any drug documentary, from my perspective, without being bias (but right ;) to the extent to perhaps automatically dismissing the negative content which is displayed within the documentary...

Sometimes I wonder if I am truly unbiased or if like the opposing side, am perhaps blinded to the dangers... Still I know drugs would be safer and attach less stigma, if they were legal. So encompassing the negatives, the positives of legalisation of all drugs far outweigh them.

Meh not sure where I'm going with this to be honest! Had a few too many beers tonight :)

I guess I'm saying I need to constantly examine if my beliefs/seemingly innate feelings are in fact justified and not bias. Because even though I know I'm right about full legalisation, I shouldn't blank out the other issues such as overdose, addiction etc.

didn't make me shout at the tv as much as i expected tbh, the whole gateway drug bit was bollocks though. if somoene is likely to take a drug they are likely to also try other drugs, hardly fucking rocket science. I bet the lad has at least browsed if is not a member of bluelight because of the way he referred to the term "rolling."

Thought it was pretty unbiased now myself. Except for the fact that they didn't say much about there being terribly gamy pills out there and it was definitely pips or some other horrible shit that fucked that girls liver up and killed that other girl.

That kid is MOP I thought? :-D

at least the scientist with the unimaginable draws of high quality tablets mentioned McPP. what a fucking bastard. 1 of those mitsis was fukin oldskool

Definitely better than last week's cannabis episode, a lot less bullshit and it didn't just follow the usual point of view taken by the media.

it was water intoxication (related to mdma and poor information about how much water to consume while under the influence) which killed leah betts and clearly an underlying liver condition in the other girl.

Watching now. Is good. Saw Mr Nicky Holloway at a little party of his on NYE this year so it was like seeing an old pal on t'telleh when Mrs Deckmunki and I saw him :D

no drama, no hysteria, was exactly how i was told it would be. quite enjoyed it actually. fairly informative, educational balanced view all round. shame about the typical stereotypical users, but other than that, no complaints

That girl on it was class, defo wouldn't mind a night out with her,

and yeah, definitely made me want some MD!

Overall a good programme i thought. Little bits wrong, but got the jist.

MDMA or ecstasy I missed the difference. What was it?
Crystal was MDMA and pills were ecstasy?
Anyway how dangerous is that stuff! If I'd known all this 23 years ago I would have never gone near.
All that bollocks I've heard over the years about it's got this in and it's got that.
They only mentioned a couple of substances and they are lethal.
Aparantly something positive was said but I blinked at the time but I watched the other 55 minutes.
My heart will always go out to the families of anyone who died taking this stuff it's an awful situation to happen.
Leah lived up the road from me and although younger went to my school and I knew people who knew her. I also knew some of the 15 people who were sent down for dealing in our area which was implecated in the supply of said drug.
For her 18th birthday party her friends were supplied a quantity of speed and pills.
I must say I am disapointed that the amount of water that poor girl was FORCED to drink wasn't mentioned when she felt hot and paniced.
Also the comment about once you have used ecstasy you will always be looking for something rang home too. I left the Army with an almighty dose of untreated PTSD and thrown on the scrap heap.
Luckily for me I found ecstasy which saved my life!
Instead of constant nightmares and flashbacks plus only seeing evil in myself and everyone else I was transformed by being able to see how good human nature could be if we were wired slightly differently. Unfortunatly this let me into my next problem which was simply made by taking to many drugs!
Luckily that is EASIER to sort than PTSD is so all turned out well.
Sorry to mix sarcasm with my serious stuff but that was the message I got from this programme. MOP

The guy who commented on mandy being a gateway drug was Prof Parrot, the guy Prof Nutt stated on BBC Hardline as having a completely wrong view on MDMA =D

I think Prof Parrot is simply flying the 'all drugs are bad' flag :\

Aye, I also thought the dude in the program was at least aware of BL...

On the whole I thought it could have been a lot worse - particularly liked the fact it focused a lot on the benefits of the drug in a medical setting for therapy.
