Harm Reduction (barbs) Using 31 year old pentobarbital (Nembutal)

So I've been sitting on some Nembutal from 1980. It has been refrigerated for the last 30 years, until about May of this year. After that point it has been sitting in dark room.

There is no precipitate formed in the solution. It was originally a 50mg/ml solution. The bottle was filled with argon gas by the manufacturer for preservation.

What I'm thinking about doing is measuring out a ml, drying it, weighing the resulting salt. This should give me an idea of what the current mg/ml dose is. Then I'm thinking about starting off with 25mg orally, just to be safe, as I work my way up to a nice recreational dose.

Does anyone have any experience with these super old Nembutal solutions? Am I missing any major harm reduction steps here apart from:

1) Don't do barbs
2) Don't do 31 year old drugs

I don't know how big that bottle is, but if you're gonna be working your way up I'd start AT LEAST at 100mg. I'm 100% sure about the typical recreational dosage range, but I'm sure 100 would still be below it.

Hopefully those blessèd individuals on this site with barb experience will shed light on this issue.
 
It's a big ass bottle, I'm not worried about wasting the product.

I'm totally barbiturate-naive so I wanna try the 25mg first just so that I am comfortable and confident. I don't wanna deal with 45 minutes of terrible anxiety where I'm wondering "what if this, what if that" all because I jumped in at 100mg+ on a drug I've never tried that is older than me.

100mg is the therapeutic dose for insomnia. After my 25mg, I was going to jump to 75, and then up to 100+. I have more than enough, no reason not to be safe.
 
Is it the sodium salt or the free acid?

[edit] Never mind, should be the sodium salt.

I've taken 20 year old Percodan pills with no ill effects. I want to say that just antibiotics are dangerous when consumed past expiration date.
 
Yes, it's the sodium salt. I'm gonna give it a shot tomorrow afternoon, I've got a couple mls drying right now. I'll report back how it goes, and I'll leave a note for someone to post my obituary if it goes wrong. :)

I read that somewhere before, that's why I was so sketched out about jumping in at a real dose. Allergies, hypersensitivity, etc. I'm sure if this was 1970-1990 I would be IM'ing this shit left and right without a care, but since I literally do not know a single person who has played with barbs, I'm treading very cautiously. They really scare the shit out of you with all the talk of how close the therapeutic dose is to the lethal dose.

And to the above poster - trust me, I almost shit my pants. I was digging around, moving shit out of this old fridge, and bam! What do I see? "Nembutal - Sodium Pentobarbital"

... and right next to it? That's right. A fucking bottle of ketaset.

It was my drug-seeking equivalent of finding a classic car in original condition just sitting in a barn somewhere.

Thats about how long its been since I've taken em'!!! Seems like all my buddies would have a pocket full of them one day
to the next, along with Tuinals, Dilly's, Quaaludes. A little later the Pecocets, Demerol started making an appearance...

how do you dry the nembutal?
 
yes, i am envious as shit. i once took diazepam some diazepam solution that was expired some 15 years to no ill effects.
 
I've taken 10 year old vicodin...i think they worked better actully, but they were a diff brand than im used to.

Got so high that after i smoked some good grass i greened out
