barbituates?

Usually Doctors DO NOT prescribe the Barbiturates anymore, As they have been REPLACED by the Benzodiazepines Which are safer, and have less of a risk of Overdose.
The ONLY Barbiturate you might be able to get is if you say you have migraines/Tension Headaches and they prescribe you Fioricet (Butalbital (A weak Barb), Caffeine and Aspirin)

Phenobarbital is still prescribed for epileptic seizures refractory to benzodiazepines, and very rarely, for people with very VERY severe insomnia, and for those users who have been taking barbs long term, from when they were regularly prescribed back in the day, but its not common, and of course there are less and less people around who were alive in those days.
Phenobarb isn't unobtainium, and barbital is used in certain chemistry labs as a PH buffer, its a longer acting barb, but IMHO far more abuseable than pheno, I got some a year or so back, quite a bit of it, and loved it, it didn't love me, but its definately very fun.
Always wanted to try some of the shorter acting barbs, but never had the chance.
Barbs are really dangerous in combination with other sedatives, while benzos bing to the allosteric binding site and increase the effectiveness of GABA, barbiturates bind, and 'lock open' the chloride channels of the GABAa receptor, which is why the lethal dosage does not increase with tolerance to the effects.
Highly addictive too, the barbital did for me, IMO, if your going to get any, of any of the barbs, I wouldn't keep too large a stash around, unless you have the willpower of a saint.

MC, it's true that benzos are considered to be the replacements of barbs, but personally i don't get much therapeutic value from benzos whereas barbs i do; however, i can see why longterm barbs use would be problematic.

pheno doesn't help with depression and it does help with anxiety. Phenobarbital is not very fun when being used alone. Mixing it can be very fun but also possibly dangerous from what I have read.

yeah any of the barbs that are still rxed do nothing for depression and little for anxiety. I would chooze valium over phenobarb or bubalbital anyday

When I was in detox for heroin and poppy pod tea they gave me phenobarbital for the shakes and restlessness, which was wierd, I never thought they would give you a barbituate for opiate withdrawals.
Anyone else use phenobarbital when they went into detox for something? Just wondering.

I used pheno in tandem with my suboxone, and found it awfully enjoyable, but if you skip a day with the suboxone, the next day you take it you better plan on tons of nausea and being sick.
like a low-grade buprenorphine OD. And it really sucks.

A LOT of people have died from barbiturate abuse. It's the main reason why they were replaced with benzos. Since they are somewhat of a rarity around here, I haven't tried anything but butalbital in fioricet.
Your chances of being prescribed a barbiturate are extremely low. Fioricet is prescribed for migraines, but it's not a very strong barb, and it comes mixed with caffeine which can increase anxiety. You're better off just sticking with the valium and tramadol IMHO. Don't go asking your doctor for other drugs when you're already getting valium for your anxiety. If it's not doing the job, maybe you should try another benzo. Also, tramadol is stimulating for some people. It might not be helping with your anxiety either.

also, dan, like i said earlier, benzos are not a perfect replacement for barbs, aside for the OD potential of barbs.
For some it is certainly an experience worth trying I would say.
There is a 'grade' of H here (Canada) that is cut with seconal. I know this as a fact. Some people love it. like it better than pure (relatively speaking) H.
I've tried it lots of times and find you really have to find and closely watch your dose. I've passed out numerous times with this combo. Usually I do the shot....wait and get the rush....sit down and then wake up 20 minutes later on the floor. It's not something for the novice to try.
Won't do a thing for depression. They are depressants and like all other depressants can cause depression. It may give you short term euphoria but like any drug that wears off
