I also thought the premise was interesting; crack addicted prostitutes may be more likely to be infected and to pass on the infection. That's due to the constant dosing that common with crack use, so they're out there turning tricks more often than just heroin addicts. Heroin addicts can get by with 3 doses per day, but that's uncommon with crack addicts

That is what struck me too. Because here in Toronto (which is waaay bigger than Baltimore by the sounds of it..never been there but Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is over 5 million...if Baltimore is in the 100,000 category), like in Miami, the DOC is crack for most people on the street (H too of course). There are at least 10 'tracks' plus one 'transexual track' to cruise for sex here and they are all smoking rock. I haven't seen any stats from here but I would imagine it is much the same.

that's the thing with rock...it just isn't worth it IMO. I had a go with it in the late 80's at the end of my cocaine/alcohol addiction phase and it was what prompted me to stop. It was just too fucked up.
