Bakersfield dad accused of biting out son's eye

maybe you shouldnt get high on PCP while taking care of kids sure, but are you saying toking on a joint or popping some vicodins or ritalins would really interfere with your ability to take care of someone?

I've never hurt a child when I was on drugs and I guarantee you I've done a comparable amount of drugs to this guy.

Choosing to do PCP when a child is within a mile is wrong. Weather our of sickness or pure calculated evil the result is the same and the line has been crossed.

If drugs were legal and controlled then people who wanted to do PCP could all be put in padded rooms and let out when they were straight or dead and it would cost a hell of a lot less money then imprisoning them or putting police on the street to arrest them.

Disturbing IS the word for this. JESUS! I never liked the idea of PCP but this made it worse...
But he apparently knew he did something wrong if he is gonna take an axe to himself...

No I don't think so, because there's too different ways you can treat someone like this.
================================================== ==
OPTION 1:

You can give them the excuse:

Oh your sick its OK we'll make you better you poor thing.

and he can say he's sick and he's a poor thing and he can blame it on his sickness and live with himself
================================================== ==
OPTION 2:

You can cull them from the herd:

Your actions prove that you are no longer human and as such have lost all rights as such, you will be put down within the next 72 hours.

No excuses, no recourse, the state is not putting down a legal human being so it is not committing hypocrisy by murdering while saying it is wrong to murder.

which would be worse to the perpetrator?
giving him the truth, and possibly helping him, would be better. aka #1
So you'd rather see your child raped then commit violence to protect them?
i never implied that in the least. i would use violence to protect anyone on whom violence is being done but unwarranted

i meant, when i said that i don't feel the same way as you, that i don't have this need for violent revenge where i strip the sick person of his humanity and kill him while he is defenseless
It is utterly wrong when someone commits a crime against a child to take them in and say "there there pumpkin" it is irresponsible.
i never said we should. i think we should see what the psych literature says about rehabilitation, and actually care/focus on rehabilitation rather than punishment
They made a choice to vent their sickness on a child and it is the responsibility of the human race to protect our children.
if you read carefully, you'll notice i said the same thing (post#30)
If someone hurts a child WE as the human race have a DUTY to our children to see it NEVER happens again.
unfortunately, this is (proven) impossible
In my experience atheists become at least agnostics in foxholes.
i don't see how this relates to religion. but i think jesus would choose the compassionate route

Helping him only gives him time and opportunity to help kids this is the pattern we are locked in right now.

Dude they keep coming back, if its not your kid next time it will be someone elses and the disease spreads.

I'm not advocating vengeance ala the death penalty Im advocating a definitive solution. Its not about the kid he hurt its about the ones he will hurt.

If there is a chance, at all that they will hurt another child I find that unacceptable.

I'm not saying I'm diametrically opposed to anything you're saying I'm just trying to get my standpoint across.

i don't see how this relates to religion. but i think jesus would choose the compassionate route

Sorry if my point was a little abstract, what that means to me is that one doesn't know what you believe until one is put in an extreme situation.

There are people who have lost loved ones who decry the death penalty and that to me is strength. I hate the idea that the state kills as a punishment for murder. I hate the fact that Christians in this country are so rabid to kill people in wars and in execution chambers.

But what I hate the most is that kids, that didn't do anything to anyone get hurt by people for no other reason then for them to get their jollies. Its fucking up this country and it needs to stop.

me too, i just have a different (and we need to try different) solution to stop it

btw, adults are often victims too..
