bad time with hydrocodone

I am scripted hycodan 5mg, which is just hydrocodone with out APAP

I normally take 15-17.5mg for treatment of headaches

Last night I took 20mg mainly because I did not want to cut the tiny pill in half as one side normally breaks into little chunks

time line goes like this

6:00 pm take 20mg of hydro with water and a few almonds
6:45 start to feel a little weird, kinda queezy
7:30 I ate 2 small pieces of pizza because I was kinda hungry and thought that maybe thats why I felt queezy
8:00 start to feel sick, need to puke but it wont come, try to induce vomiting, puke a bit dont really feel better
9:00 still feel sick, rapid heartbeat small pupils hot flashes
10:00 projectile vomit all over bathroom, instantly nausea goes away

for the rest of the night I felt spinny and generally like shit

today my head still feels kinda weird but nothing serious, was this a bad reaction to the hydro? would 2.5mg make that much of a difference, I have never gotten sick from opiates before, but have only taken the hydro 3 times before, and it was 2 times at 15mg and once at 17.5mg

my normal opiate consumption is 150mg of codeine or 100mg of demerol both with no negative side effects.


any ideas? now I am nervous to take the hydro, should I try a antihistamine next time along with it?

I'm just concerned it was a reaction to the hydro and not just regular side effects.

Just a regular side effect of Hydrocodone. Nausea. Even if you take the same dose that you took the day before you could experience it. Its just a sign that you should be taking a little lower dose. Or you could take the same dose and not feel sick like you did the day before. Usually it will go away after awhile of using. I knew someone who would get really sick from just 10mg.

I use to get sick off of 5mgs of Vicodin when I first tried it. At first I thought I was allergic or something but it just takes some getting use too.

There is a reason opium is traditionally smoked lying down, it helps with nausea that opiates can cause. Next time lie down, it will help. I wouldn't have eaten that pizza.

yea if u need it for pain lay down so u dont get sick...and take it on an empty stomach
