when i injected the heroin i got a bad burning down my arm from my elbow to my hand. I got hives allover that part of my arm and my hand swelled up. it went away pretty fast but now i have stopped using its been four or 5 days and my middle finger is getting this like electrical pulse through it when i move certain ways or go to grab things. what could this be and is it going to heal itself or do i need to see a docter? i injected in the crease of my elbow

Hmmm . . . not really sure. Maybe someone else on here can shed some light on this, because I've never gotten this reaction from IVing any drug I've used that way.

Opioids like heroin produce a pretty profound histamine release so the hives are not at all uncommon. The tingly sensation in your finger(s) after so long is a little worrisome but if it started days later its probably not related... also the nerves that control your middle finger (c7) are not the same as the nerves where you shot up (T1 or C5)

The electrical sensations in your finger suggests nerve ROOT involvement so if your shoulder area is very stiff it could cause this or perhaps something more like a slightly pinched nerve due to disk protrusion or something.

I am JUST theorizing here. I am not a doctor and if you're worried you absolutely should get examined by a medical professional.

Pain/burning sensation, as well as swelling, going down your arm is usually indicative of an artery shot.

Keep an eye on it and if it gets worse seek medical attention.

if it was an artery shot that wouldnt have anything to do with nerves and electrical pulses. if i hurt myself doing an artery shot wouldnt i of had more complications by now

and if i did have an artery shot and i am fine % days later and all symptoms went away within a half hour i should be ok right

^I would think so... and just about anything that is related to the shot would've shown up immediately or shortly after, days later leads me to believe the proximity in location is more coincidental.

Not all artery shots have as serious complications as some believe they do. Also, there are many variables that could explain what you're describing as nerve issues. The thing that got me to believe it was an artery shot, or at least partially, was the swelling and the pain going down your arm.

The main point here is that we can't really diagnose exactly what happened, and what matters most is keeping a close eye on things and getting help if anything worsens.

Take care.

^great advice. When it comes to matters of health, you don't want to take any chances.

as cane explained the hives are probably due to a histamine release (why you get itchy on opiates) Ive experienced this also somewhat normal...as far as the discomfort im not educated enough to offer advice other than to seek medical assistance

the same thing happened to me even though i drew blood. it must have been an artery shot like mentioned above..but my pain and swelling and hives went away after five minutes or so

You may have slipped out of the vein after you registered (drew blood), causing a missed shot. It may not be likely, but a missed shot should not be ruled out.
