Bad Physical Trip

Recently I have had two trips (Acid) which were not bad mentally, but physically they were terrible. Generally the visuals and profound thoughts were much weaker than normal, and my body felt really nervous (jittering, shaking, need to keep going elsewhere, even if I'm in a good place)

I felt extremely nervous for 12 hours as if I was having a panic attack. I have a fear of doctors, needles, blood, physical injury, and often feel physical pain and nervousness when thinking about or witnessing these things. For that reason, I think the trip might have scared me and put me in a physically tense place much like seeing someone with a bone sticking out of their skin would.

Has anyone else ever experienced a bad physical trip like this?

I might also add that for both of these trips I was largely alone, and have never experienced something similar while tripping with other people. I'm not sure if that is what caused it. I will have to trip with other people more to see if this ever happens in that scenario.

*EDIT* both times were from different sources, one a white unperf, and one was two sour-patch.

every time i have taken lsd or mushrooms i have experienced - really nervous (jittering, shaking, need to keep going elsewhere, even if I'm in a good place) - extremely nervous for 12 hours - nervousness when thinking about or witnessing these things - these are all things i expect from acid or mushrooms - i have gotten used to the sensation enough that it doesn't worry me.. it is normal..

while white on white unperfed blotter and magic candy may both be red flags for not lsd, they are not definitive.

sounds like you already feel that setting had some play in the reaction, and how has your mindset been? any deep thoughts you've had to deal with in the recent past?

Sounds like you got the DOx worries.

I dunno. Were you ever able to feel all your pores on your body? I've had grotesque sensations and thoughts about flesh and shit while on DOx, it's fucking weird. I thought of axe murderers and shit too, just really horror movie stuff. It wasn't like the cosmic LSD.

I'm 98% sure I've had the real deal of acid, but it did cause physical sympomts. I quickly attributed these to randomly happened cramps (I've got a bit sensible stomach that promptly informs me of the slightest mistakes in my diet :) ) that were simply intensified by the LSD and snowballing nervousness of possible real problems. Shifting focus off from these helped, though.

It's very real thing that LSD - and almost every psychoactive - can cause physical symptoms by being nervous about it. There are people who basically vomit and can't stand up from slightest fear or stress, so if you're one of the people who are more physically vulnerable to these emotions and you stress the substance you took, it's only reasonable to expect physical symptoms.

How do you otherwise handle stress or fear? From my own experience I know I don't handle them very well and any negative thoughts under LSD tend to manifest as physical symptoms as well.

EDIT: Hell, I even now got this twisting, nauseous feeling on the bottom of my stomach by thinking tomorrow, which is the next acid day ^_^ wanted to reserve a full day for meditating on positive thoughts to get the best out of tomorrow, so I wouldn't suffer any of these annoying, physical symptoms. ;)

Though I agree with the possibility that what you got wasn't real LSD. But statistically, the chance for that is small and DOxes tend to be active at a few times higher doses. If my memory serves me well on such a quick call, only DOB had an active dose at under a half milligram - 200ug. While LSD's threshold is mere 20ug, so if you've got extra blotters, you could try cutting out a small edge to try when the substance actually gets active. It's a patchy technique and prone to fails, but might at least give self-confidence, which in turn helps to reduce physical symptoms due to anxiety. Oh, and compare your experiences to DOx reports, if you haven't yet.

Generally I handle stress pretty well. The only thing I cannot handle are thoughts of wounds, physical trauma, needles, things like that. I often almost faint after getting shots, not from the minimal pain, but from dwelling for 10-15 minutes after on the fact that something physically went into my arm. I tend to dwell on thoughts like this until my slight nervousness becomes physical pain/sickness.

I have never felt this way from ingesting prescribed pills or anything like that. Generally I do not see that as anything different than eating food, nor would I really see LSD as anything different than eating food, physically speaking. Up until recently it has never really made me nervous, aside from the first time of course.

Another note, I seem to experience these feelings more when I trip alone, or when I plan on tripping a week ahead of time. Most of the time when I trip with friends, we talk about and then decide to dose all within the span of an hour or less. I think the fact that there is much less planning involved gives me little or no time to worry.

Obviously now from these experiences I am more apt to worry before dosing, which wouldn't be at all beneficial. I just can't figure out why the first time I had a bad physical trip it was so bad...

It may possibly be from reading these forums and of bad experiences others have had that made me nervous. I know the first few times I dosed I had really good trips, and did not have a full understanding of LSD or any negative effects.

I guess I am the kind of person that has to think everything through and worry about things before they happen. This, coupled with my fear of physical symptoms probably brings these symptoms out in a trip. I guess my best approach would be not to plan on tripping far in the future. When I make plans I have too much time to worry. I guess dosing on impulse would be my best option, as bad as that may sound. Obviously I would still make sure I had enough time free...

I will read up on DOx reports more so I have a better understanding.

I have had a few troubles with college that I have been dealing with, but I do not think that anything like that is affecting me physically. Generally during these bad physical trips, I do not even get to the 'enlightened' point where I can step back and take a look at my life. I just sit and worry about being physically sick and never get noticeable visuals or profound thoughts. It is almost as if I get more and more worried, to the point where the only way the drug effects me is physically, and I cannot fully embrace the trip.

As a note, I tend to get bad physical sensations like this from smoking weed as well. While it is much stronger with weed (even only one hit), it does not last 8-12 hours, and It is much easier to fall asleep. I have seen spots, felt light-headed, and almost fainted every time I have smoked a reasonable amount of weed. I know I read up on panic attacks on weed vs LSD, and almost everyone in the thread that had experienced panic attacks said that it was much stronger for them on weed.

I'm not sure if this relates to my feelings on LSD. I do not feel this way when ingesting any other drug (alcohol, molly, cigarettes). Although, I haven't done a wide enough variety to have much certainty.

i got this on my last trip too.

i think it has something to do with degraded lsd . lsd degrades into other compounds when reacted with heat. (ie your dealers pocket)

the impurities are in your mind.

trust me, I've gone through plenty of unpleasent physical symptoms during acid trips, muhsroom trips and even 2-cb.
don't think you feel bad because of the wrong chemical mind-opener in your system. although do-x oftem seem to have physical side effects, these or even worser effects could also pop up if you'd have sandoz-lsd.

you guys act as if pure lsd would talke all your problems away and make you feel nothing but fluffy. but that's what opiates do for you. psychedelics on the other hand have the ability to break your skull open violently.

when such feelings occur it's even hard for an experienced tripper to realize that the pain comes from within himself and not from the psychedelic he took.

it's allll psychosomatic dude, you just gotta change how you view those memories and fears, let go a bit, things will sort out in the end.

I totally know what you mean about "jittery" acid. As other people have been saying that's often from impurities or the chemical just having degraded a bit. If the duration and visuals seemed 'acid-y' then there's probably not too much concern over it being a DOx chemical.

If it gets too uncomfortable in the future perhaps taking a low dose of a benzo with muscle relaxant qualities (valium for example) or a soma (carisoprodol). make sure it's a low dose though cause benzos'll just kill your trip otherwise, soma likely wont do that to ya

good luck + happy tripping!!!

Akathisia. You can experience this especially through antipsychotics, as well as antidepressants, excess antihistamines (like tripping on benadryl), piperazines (bad rolls), or during withdrawals. I have never heard of this happening from LSD or any psychedelic really. There does seem to be a correlation with low dopamine and excess serotonin as some potential causes. 5-HT2a antagonists abort trips - antipsychotics, SSRIs... akathisia-inducing agents, so the inhibition of serotonin seems to play a big role in inducing akathisia. LSD with most psychedelics are 5-HT2a agonists meaning the effects are the complete opposite in the way they act on the receptor. Basically this makes no sense whatsoever and I cannot come up with an explanation with my limited scientific knowledge.

It could very well just be LSD; LSD ís a little stimulating and that can easily cause restlessness and tight muscles and other related symptoms. I was often a little restless in the peak of my earliest LSD trips, now, after 32 trips I find it much more comfortable and I can easily spend my intire trip in one room in roughly the same spot without feeling the urge to go everywhere; it took a few trips to get used to it, but keeping your mind busy seems to work just as well and if you feel your muscles are too tense or you feel too restless going for a good walk can really help.

I never experienced the stimulating effects of LSD as uncomfortable myself though; I like the mental clarity and overly 'awake' and 'sharp' feeling, and the fact I don't get tired until the late comedown makes tripping on parties a lot easier.

(I had my lsd lab tested; I've never had DOx on a blotter; each single hit of LSD I took was tested to be only LSD, so I'm pretty sure LSD itself has some rather stimulating effects; a friend of mine often feels slight jaw clensing as well, I personally don't, but yes, LSD is speady, and yes that can make you restless)
