backpacking + acid

Go for it. As long as you take precautions, as one would on any backpacking trip, I'm sure you'll be fine. I agree with the advice to wait until all task are completed before you begin. I also agree with lineartransform, take a dose you're experienced with or just a little bit more than that. Proper intentions and the natural setting will likely heighten the experience anyway.

It sounds like an adventure, but a high doses of acid will make this unpleasant experience. Adventure are always shitty until they're over and you have a good story from it. I'm not talking about machismo or anything, but the negative parts seem to get put into a positive light. I've done a lot of backpacking and a lot of acid and I have to agree with a post I just read now about how setting things up on acid isn't that great. Sure you can do it and it won't be much bother, but all the little steps like getting water, setting up your tent, making dinner, will detract from the abstract nature of the trip. I used psychedelics for a long time as a mental conditioner to learn how to deal with fear, but all it really has done for me is make me overly introspective, given me fucked up vision, and made me hyper-alert. I've tripped hundreds of time and eaten hundreds of doses. The more I think about this idea the worse of an idea it sounds like. This is coming from someone who ate acid to stay awake to drive :\ so I could get to the next show. I always used to dose right before a show and then set up my gear on the upswing. Yeah..... my proudest moment came when I plugged in one connector and then tried to play and it wouldn't work. "Oh I forgot to plug this one in." Tried again. And so on. I did that about 10 times before I got it right. You think have control, but you don't. Maybe you can function all right, but you do not have as much control as you normally do. And we could get all philosophical and talk about how we have no control, but that is just part of the acid lesson. All the paradoxes at which hippies love to go, "Whoaaa..." are not things which exclude the other part of the paradox. All those things happen at once even though they are at odds with each other. Example: Being able to drive while on acid, but not being able to coherently string ideas together. Complex process that might seem messed up. "How can you drive if you can't talk?" Different functions is the simple answer. For you trip, if something went wrong you'd be a world of hurt. Save the acid for a day trip or once you're set-up. 3 doses can be barely a whisper or it can be a piano falling from a 9th story window right on the ol' brain case. This might be one of your psychedelic warrior stories or it might just be unpleasant and you'll learn from it or it might be a wonderful time. I've gotten older and it just seems like it's not worth the risk.

I've done it. Most of what's important to consider has been said (visualize going through the day ahead and plan out everything while sober/don't have chores to do/don't have specific expectations), but I'll add a couple things.

1. Have your cell phone. Keep it off and in a backpack pocket so it doesn't distract you, but just make sure it's always accessible in case you get injured.

2. Have a weather radio or know the phone number for the weather forecast from someplace in the region. Weather changes quick, and it sucks to spend your trip inside a tent because you didn't know about the cold windy storm that was forecast for the afternoon.

Hey Pimplazy, I can understand where you're coming from. I'm younger, I'm not as experienced as you, but I have a longing to be away from people and experience this in a different environment. I would agree that taking what i've taken before (2 doses at a time) would probably be enough for the experience. I have only dosed good acid twice, the other times was pretty shitty stuff, because it didnt work or either i couldn't tell because i was raving my brains out and rolling at the same time. But i haven't had any bad trips from acid. I am sure it could happen but I tend to stay in a good attitude and do it in the right setting. I hate doing psychedelics at college because its not a good environment with stresses and stuff to deal with. Thats why i am going out to the wilderness to take in the full clean beauty of the scenery and get the full effect of the L without any distraction.

I doubt my cell will have service up there. But keeping my cell would be a wise idea. The weather where i'm going does change suddenly. I've heard it can snow 2 feet in one night. Has anyone ever tripped on acid when it was snowing? I bet that would be pretty fucking awesome though - as long as you have some shelter to go to.

melquiades, the link of that song is on a website that you gotta sign up to, why not send a link to that song if its on youtube. Thanks.

before i head out backpacking i have to get my classes in order. Then i won't feel like i have to get back and work on homework an' shit. The setting is going to be awesome.

i would say it would depend on where your packapacking....

if they are pretty established trails that you won't get lost from, probably be alright....

It would be rather interesting, expect to do a lot of thinking and communing with nature....

have you ever tripped by yourself? i am comfortable tripping by myself, but its considerably more introspective when you have no one else to talk to....
