Hey guys,

I used to use the backloading method of filtering my solution. For those of you who dont know what that is, its when you take and empty syringe and put cotton in it, load your solution in the back of syringe, then filter into another reservoir, drop your cotton in, and bang. I used to do this religiously for HR. I still do it occasionally but for the most part do it the old fashioned way: break up, mix with water, drop the cotton in, then blast.

I guess what im asking is, will backloading filter more than just the cotton?
Ive seen with roxy it takes the talc out but still pushes the blue through. With dilaudid, i found no difference.

Just looking for other peoples opinions and advice.

Thanks

No, backloading is no better than a regular cotton filter. get a micron filter if you are concerned about IV safety.

If you are rolling the cotton that you drop into the spoon tightly, it wont matter, but if you just throw loose or poorly compacted cotton in, it will definitely filter better through a backloaded syringe.

There is no substitute for micron filters though.
