Hi there
For about 5-6 years I had what I would define 'computer back' Office worker cramped in a desk all day I started to get neck ache and boy did it hurt. It wouldnt disable me but I started taking Iboprofens then on to codienes to alleviate the pain. As a bit of background I started doing weights about 18 months previously to this - nothing crazy but primary Rows\bicep curls you name it I did it 3 times a week. I also played some squash and running so I was pretty active.
As a bit of luck I never seem to get injured so I kept taking the pills and they worked to a certain extent. My GF was a bit worried but I just put it off and off and off. Anyways like the dumb fool I am I MADE NO CORRELATION to my exercise. I went to the physio he said it was posture related. Work got a new chair, I got some fancy insoles - you name it I tried every fucking thing and I still had these neck pains. They werent going to kill me but they sure as hell hurt.
Cutting a long story short (are you still with me!) I got injured playing squash on my ankle my first big injury in YEARS out for 2 months - I was so gutted. But guess what its been 12 months now I havent had a single pain in my neck or back!! It was clearly my weight technique or the weights themselves that were causing my back issues! I couldnt believe it. I am now running and doing a bit of squash and QUIT THE WEIGHTS... I have taken the time to write this to say if anyone is having problems with their back and are doing weight - please check your technique. I am that scared I wont pick one up again!!
Anyways I need some help 6ft, 11 going to 12 stone - GF into keeping fit too - I am approaching middle age I guess. I've always looked after myself or at least tried to but I have frustratingly developing a loose tummy to pinch say 1.5 inches. Whilst I am hardly losing any sleep over this I was wondering how in particular guys have combatted against this. I eat pretty well, lean meat and veggies - drink too much particularly beer (probably what caused it). All my arms legs are skinny- the tum isnt and its started to protrude. My tum is really solid but It cannot be muscle? I have some pretty well defined oblique but the tum is jutting out. Any good exercises out there? I fear not doing the weights has contributed to this.
Many thanks
