Is there any possible way to do a short term detox with Suboxone? I'm at the point where I'm so fucking sick of being addicted to opiates I'm just ... tired of it. I genuinely and honestly DON'T WANT TO DO THEM ANYMORE. I can't even have fun with it anymore, I can take 3 roxi 30's at once and barely goddamn feel it... I just want to quit...

I tried Suboxone back in October for a couple months, didn't want to beg for the money anymore, the withdrawals came back in force cause like an idiot I was eating 16mg a day (the prescribed dose, lol), which in hindsight was wayyy too much for my habit at the time but it made me feel nice, so I did it anyway, and just relapsed to deal with the Sub withdrawal...

CAN it be done? My doc called in 12 8's to last me until my appointment this coming Monday, and right now I feel ... good. Okay. Normal. No morbid drug cravings, no restless legs and runny nose and aches and pains, just normal. I've taken 3 so far since last night, I just figured it would knock out everything else on my receptors, though I'm not sure if that was really a good idea or not... I've got that wicked headache that I had when I first started on it the last time...

My plan is ... I'm going to wait a few days or however long for the withdrawal to come back, and when it does I figure I'll just take a quarter of an 8, and see how that works...? Maybe? Wash, rinse, repeat...

Is this even feasible? The doc himself said that Suboxone is not for short-term use, but there HAS to be SOME way to do it, right? I'm desperate, I just want OFF THIS SHIT, I'm so fucking tired of waking up feeling like total shit every morning until I snort a couple blues...
Does anyone have some kind of plan or formula for doing this sort of thing?

Just for the record, my habit was something like 120-180mg of oxy a day...

... also, I have another question. I'm in a bit of a money situation at the moment, and Suboxone is ridiculously expensive... Can this doctor prescribe methadone? He's an MD psychiatrist, I think if I asked him and played my cards right he probably would, but I dunno if he actually can... And I guess the bigger question is, is methadone any cheaper than sub?

methadone isw alot cheaper than suboxone/subutex, the downfall is that its much more addictive and highly regulated more by the DEA, whatever

I personally was in your same perdicoment, I had been using (again) for quite some time and was ready to kick but dredding the wd so I bought a few subs. I took them for 4 days just to get through the physical wd, and on the fifth day I didn't take anything and I felt pretty good. Now I'm on my second day taking nothing and I feel fine, now I just need to get over the mental part. But to answer your question it can be done but don't take the subs for more than 4-5 days as they are just as addictive if not more. Good luck! -gg

There are plenty of detoxes that use suboxone instead of methadone for a 3-5 day detox. It can definitely be done to get you off of other opiates, but if you are on a high dose of suboxone, then you need to slowly taper off of it. If you are on a different opiate like oxy, then you can take a low dose of suboxone for 3-4 days and the withdrawals won't be that bad.

Suboxone has a long half-life, so it usually takes a few days before you start to feel sick after dosing it. Taking 1-2mg is a good plan to start with, but you are gonna have to face the music at some point, and it's better to do so sooner before you get dependent on the suboxone.

Sigh, there's just no escaping it, is there... Maybe if I could stop having a bloody panic attack every time I feel even the slightest hint of withdrawal, I could make it through the shit... =|

In my previous experience, it usually takes at least three days for the withdrawal to come back on subs. That time seems to shorten the longer you're on em though... Last time, I made it to day 5 before I couldn't take it anymore. The RLS seems to be worse comin off of subs, and that's the ONE THING I cannot stand most with opiate withdrawal...

short detoxs actaully seem to be better for suboxone, because if u been on it for like 4months-a year the withdrawal is pretty long getting off it. My best experience was a taper like this

12mg, 12mg, 10mg, 10mg, 8mg, 8mg, 8mg, 6mg, 6mg, 4mg, 4mg, 2mg, 2mg, 2mg, 1mg, 1mg, 0.5mg, 0.5mg, 0.5mg then jump off. roughly 20 days

you can do it a bit faster even if u want, or start at lower doses. Thats just the taper that i used. You will still feel some discomfort for a couple days, but thats where some good weed and maybe a benzo or 2 can come into play, just make sure ur not starting another addiction.

Regarding the methadone - docs cant prescribe it for treating opiate addiction, just for pain management. You would need to join a licensed clinic and pick up your dose every morning. My methadone is free cause I have state funded Medicaid for drug addiction and mental health issues, but without it it would cost $120 a week. So do the math against what you are already paying for the subs.
